"Hey Sadie, do you want a hotdog or a hamburger?" Darry questions leaning on his little sisters doorframe. "Oh I am good. I'm not that hungry. Thanks though." She says looking up from her book to give her brother a small smile. Darry frowns and closes her bedroom door sitting on the edge of her bed. Sadies heart immediatly started pounding in her chest. Her brother only ever talked to her with the door closed when she was in trouble or she did something wrong. "So... What did I do this time?" She questions swallowing nervously and putting her book to the side. "You didn't do anything wrong." He says nervously taking a breath. He didn't even know how to begin this conversation, it was defiently one of those moments where he wishes his parents were still around. "You are scaring me. Darry, what's wrong?" Sadie whispers anxiety at an all time high. She has never seen her brother look so defeated before. "That is what I was hoping you could tell me. The school nurse called me this morning. She wanted to talk about your last check in." Sadie frowned not entirely sure where this was going. "Yeah, she does them every three months..." Darry nods. "Yeah. She just noticed that you lost a little weight since your last check in." Darry explains watching his sisters expression change. Her face fell and eyes welled up with tears.

"I don't want to talk about this." She whispers getting up and walking out of her room. "Sadie!" Darry scolds getting up and following her. "Hey what's wrong Sugar?" Steve questions seeing his girlfriend heading toward the front door with tears rolling down her face. "Sadie I am not done. We need to talk about this." Darry frowns. "No we don't." She cried wiping her eyes on her sweatshirt sleeve. "Let's take a breath. What's going on?" Soda questions calmly. "I don't want to talk about it." Sadie cried growing more and more upset. Steve pulled her into a hug pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "Calm down Sugar. It's alright." He whispers.

"Ponyboy why don't you boys take a walk?" Darry says cocking his head toward the door. Ponyboy, Twobit, Johnny and Dally all file out giving the group some space. Sodapop stayed wanting to know what the hell was going on with his twin sister and Steve stayed not wanting to leave his crying girlfriend. "We need to talk about this Sadie." Darry frowned hating how upset Sadie was. "No." She whispers hiding her face in her boyfriends chest. "What happened?" Steve questions. "The school is concerned she has an eating disorder. She lost 20 pounds in 3 months." Darry says making the boys pause. "Hey look at me Sugar." Steve says pulling back enough so he could see her face. Her eyes were bright red with tears and she had hair stuck to the tear tracks lining her cheeks. "Is that true? Are you having a hard time eating?" He questions all her odd behaviors now making sense as she nods her head embarrassed.

In the last couple months Sadie has been acting pretty weird with him, she hasn't taken her shirt off in front of him, she has declined every dinner date that they had planned and everytime they were eating she would make up some excuse or pick at her food. "I'm sorry." She choked out hiding her head in her boyfriends shoulder more tears running down her face. "It's ok. It's gonna be ok." He mutters looking to Sodapop and Darry. They both had blank expressions on their face trying to absorb this information. Darry heads to the kitchen preparing a bowl of cereal. "Eat." He demands. "I can't." She whispers too scared to move her face. "Yes you can. Sit down and eat it." He says again. "Please. For me Sugar?" Steve pleaded. She nodded in defeat and sat the kitchen table. A bowl of cheerios had 350 calories per serving. A serving was two and a half cups and this was about half a serving so it had at least 175 calories. She took a deep breath mentally counting all of the calories in the bowl infront of her. Trying to calculate how fast she would have to throw it up to not actually absorb any of it but one look at her brothers and she knew it wasn't going to happen. "Just a couple bites." Soda says placing a gentle hand on her back. The boys visably relaxed after seeing her put food in her system.

"How long has this been going on for?" Darry questions. "2 months give or take." She whispers eyes glued to the now empty bowl. "Why did it start in the first place?" Soda questions. "I don't know." She mumbles. "Yes you do. Talk to me." Steve sighs pressing a kiss to her temple. "I just wanted to look like everyone else. I hate the way I look. I hate the way my clothes fit. I just hate me. I wanted to be pretty." She says starting to cry again. "You are the most beatiful girl I have ever seen and I am so sorry you don't believe that but I promise you that you will." He whispers in her ear.
