It was a sunny, warm morning, when Travis' car pulled up in front of the hospital. Today, he would finally be able to take his wife and their newborn daughter home. He was elated because having the baby at home would make everything so real. Travis had everything he had ever wished for. A beautiful house, a loving wife and now a little one. With a beating heart, he entered the hospital and walked to Taylor's room, which was in a secluded area so they wouldn't have any trouble with paparazzi or reporters.

Travis softly knocked on the door and opened it. There she was. Taylor was sitting on the bed, cradling their baby girl in her arms who was fast asleep. "Good morning hun." She greeted Travis and patted on the free spot next to her. He immediately sat down  and put his arm around his girls.

"Well hello there. I hope our little one wasn't too much trouble and let you sleep." He chuckled and brushed his daughter's head lovingly. "It was alright. She had some trouble so fall asleep so I had to lay her on my chest but we managed to fall asleep." Taylor explained while patting her baby's back. "Seriously Tay, you're a natural. You're so great with her." Travis praised his wife which earned him a sweet smile.

Taylor wanted to believe his words but her head told her different things. She was feeling like she wasn't doing enough, that her daughter wasn't fed well and that she did everything wrong. But Taylor would've never told Travis about her dark thoughts. He was so incredibly happy and she didn't want him worrying about her and their daughter. After some cuddle time, another feeding session and one last chat with their doctors and midwife they were free to go. Travis carried the maxi cosi baby seat and insisted to carry Taylor's bag as well.

"Come on Trav, I can hold something too you know. I'm not pregnant anymore." Taylor complained, not wanting her husband to do all the work. "You delivered a baby 3 days ago Tay. Get some rest honey. I'm totally fine with the bags and the baby." Travis assured and laughed.

After arriving at the car, luckily without any paparazzi noticing them, Taylor took their daughter out of her maxi cosi and tried to place her into her car seat. The baby was fussy and didn't appreciate her mother interrupting her happy sleep which led to some cries and helpless screams. "Shhh honey. We'll be home soon my love. I'll just put you in this car seat so we can drive home." Taylor spoke to her soothingly and bounced her up and down in her arms. Travis came up to them. "Are you giving your mommy a hard time baby girl? Come on just a little car ride and we'll be home." The baby immediately stopped crying and stared at her dad. "How did you do that? I always talk to her but she doesn't react and you say one sentence and she's down bad for you?" Taylor asked frustrated and handed him the baby. "Here put her in. You're a baby whisperer apparently." She walked around the cat and got in. Travis was shocked for a moment as he held the baby but placed her into her car seat safely. He was worried about his wife.

Taylor was frustrated. Why did her baby prefer her dad? She had spent so much time with her, a lot more than Travis, singing to her, feeding her and soothing her. Why couldn't she have the baby whisper genes? Why was she such a bad mother?

Her insecurities stared to come up again and tears rose from her eyes. Taylor wiped them away quickly, not wanting Travis to see her like this. He had succeeded to put their daughter in the car seat and took his place behind the wheel.

"Let's go home baby." He exclaimed excitedly and began to drive. He had seen her tears but was sure that she didn't want him to see so he decided to not say anything yet. After 20 minutes they arrived at their big modern house in Kansas City. Everything was prepared for their baby's arrival. The nursery was finished, even though their daughter would sleep with them in their bedroom for a while and everything was baby proofed.

The baby was asleep again so it was easy to take her out and carry her in. Taylor held her and kissed her head. "Welcome home my sweet girl. I'm sorry I can't be a good mom." She whispered into her ear and entered the house.

"I'll put her down for a nap." She told Travis and went upstairs. The crying began again when she tried to lay her on her little bed next to their king sized bed and Taylor sighed. "Please baby, I'm giving my best here my love." She cried and held her baby securely into her arms. Travis stood in the doorway of their bedroom, not wanting to disturb his wife and daughter. He saw how much Taylor was struggling and decided to help her.

"Come on baby. Sleep for mommy and me." Travis whispered to his daughter and she was quiet immediately. Taylor placed her down and chewed on her lip. The frustration was written on her face and even though she was happy that her daughter had calmed down and was asleep she felt like a complete failure. Without saying anything she went to the nursery and sat down on the light pink armchair in the corner, head in her hands. Tears began to spill from her eyes and she couldn't hold it in anymore.

Travis heard her sobbing and went in to check on her. "Tay baby what's wrong." He caressed her head and bent down in front of her. "I'm just-" She started to explain but the loud crying of her daughter interrupted her. "She's probably hungry." Taylor went to get her.

She came back and began to feed her, while Travis was still looking at her with a concerned look on his face. "Baby, can you tell me what's the matter?" He tried again and put his arms around his wife. "I feel like a complete idiot. Our baby hates me and I just can't do it." Taylor whispered and looked at him, nearly scared of his response.

"Oh Tay. You're doing so great. I can't imagine how it must be for you to suddenly have a little person sucking milk out of you and depending completely on you but I do know that you're giving your best and our daughter is happy and healthy." Travis caressed her arm and face and planted a loving kiss on her forehead. Taylor shrugged her shoulders. "I just feel like she prefers you and doesn't like me."

"Taylor, she has a death grip on your finger right now. Do you really think she hates you? Her eyes are so blue, like yours and they're looking up at you, not me and you spent the last 3 days with her and cuddled her and bonded with her like no one else. This girl adores you. Look at her little face."

Taylor looked down at her nursing daughter and smiled. Travis was right. Her daughter looked at her like she was the most important person on the planet for her. She held her finger like her life depended on it, like she couldn't be separated from her mommy.

"She's so perfect." Taylor sighed and cuddled Travis and her daughter closer.

"Yes she is. Our little wonder. Athena Marjorie Kelce." Travis kissed his wife and gave her the most beaming, happy smile she had ever seen.

The next weeks were challenging, as Athena was always fussy and had some issues with her sleeping but at some point, Travis and Taylor found a rhythm and were much calmer and relaxed. Their life had been completely changed by their daughter and of course it needed a lot of adjustment. Still, Athena was a happy baby that adored both her parents but, let's face it, was a daddy's girl. Taylor was okay with that. She adored the bond of Athena and Travis and her insecurities weren't present anymore. This was her daughter, her own little person and she was so proud to call herself a mommy.

As Taylor and Travis had decided not to post about the pregnancy on social media, they made a short announcement 2 weeks after her birth.
