NATIONAL ANTHEMJack stood by his locker, a group of guys from one of his classes crowding it.
" Draft is soon, Jack. You excited?",
He shrugged, " Yeah. It'll be good",
They all scoffed, " Dude, you're gonna be rich by the time you're like 20",
Jack laughed a bit, knowing they had a point. But he still didn't want to leave behind what he had here, for that lifestyle.
" You gonna break up with your girlfriend before the draft? Girls will be all over you, don't you want to experience that?",
A few of them laughed, Jack now trying to get something from his locker.
" Yeah for sure", he said back to them as they all patted him on the back.
Jack shut his locker, turning around and widening his eyes as his girlfriend stood there with an angry look on her face.
She shook her head, walking off and down the hall.
" Who was that?", a ginger dude asked as Jack had a look of worry on his face
He blinked, " my girlfriend, I gotta go",
Jack quickly rushed down the hall, the short girl walking at a ridiculously fast pace as she made her way into the school parking lot.
She had gotten her G1 over the summer, so she was waiting for Trevor so they could drive home.
" J, wait", he said as he finally caught up with her
Jade stood in front of her car, a disappointed look on her face. Jacks face dropped a bit, not knowing that she'd be so upset.
" Are you serious? Did you say that to be cool or something?",
Jack scoffed, " Why would I say that to be cool?",
" Why would you say that at all?",
Jade looked like she was gonna start bawling, the older boy just standing in front of her like he did nothing wrong.
" I dunno", he said, " I didn't mean it J, you know that",
" No, Jack", she scoffed, " I don't know that. You just said you were gonna break up with me before the draft, which you've promised wasn't gonna change anything between us!",
Jack scrambled his words, " I do promise that it's not gonna change anything. I obviously didn't mean that, Jade. You're literally all I've ever wanted. Come on,",
Trevor walked out of the school, a huge smile on his face. Jade didn't want her brother knowing about this, so she just unlocked the car and went to the driver side.
" Whatever, Jack. I have to go",
He quickly followed her, holding the door open as she got in. " Can we talk later?",
" Yeah, whatever", she said as she shut the door.
Trevor sent his friend a smile, Jack sending a nod back and watching as they pulled out of the school parking lot.
He ran his hand down his face, shaking his head. Jack really messed up. And he didn't know how he was gonna make it up to her.
