NATIONAL ANTHEM
Jack and Jade sat at a patio in the midst of April, the end of what was Jacks senior year, and her junior year.
Not only did this mean it was their last few weeks of high school together, but there was just over a month until the NHL draft.
The day they had both been dreading. Jack and Jade had been together for a year now, and it was the best year of both of their lives.
" Excited for prom tomorrow?", she smiled as she ate some of the fries from his plate
Jack shrugged, " Are you?",
Jades mood changed slightly. He had been acting weird all week, not being his usual self.
" What's up with you? Aren't you happy you're almost done with school, forever?",
" No, J, I'm not. That means it gets real. Like, I'm probably moving away, type of real", he said
The girl grabbed his hand lightly, her blonde hair in a loose braid over her shoulder.
" J, you're gonna do great. Like, amazing",
Jack nodded, " I know that, but that means not as much of us",
" No", she shook her head, " You and I are gonna be just fine, Jack. I thought we both knew that?",
The look in his eyes worried her, like he was looking at her with ' sorry' eyes. Jade squeezed his hand tighter, a small smile creeping onto his face.
" Yeah, I know. Just, worried. You know?",
Jade nodded, " Don't be. We are gonna be just fine",
