Caroline Forbes loved the system.
She believed that if the world had a perfect person or people that she could find them. So she doesn't stop talking. She loves soulmates.
Soulmates
An open and happy concept for most. When you hear your soulmates voice, sparks fly and joy flows through you. It could be anyone, anywhere. Their voice is like a navigation system, follow the sound, get to the destination.
Her sister, Alex Forbes, really did hate the system, so Caroline speaks for the both of them. They both learnt sign language to communicate more effectively. Well Caroline reads and translates but still learnt nonetheless.
They're always together, no matter what. There is probably not a day that goes by where you don't see the Forbes sisters together. It was a little strange to most in the small town of Mystic Falls when the youngest forbes stopped talking. The sweet, quiet but well spoken girl just stopped talking.
It was unexpected, and severely looked down on by the other founding families.

Alexandra Forbes hated the system.
She believed that if soulmates were real, they would find their way to each other. So one day, she stopped talking.
No one knew why as she told no one except for her older twin sister, Caroline Forbes. She was shocked at eight years old as her younger sister walked over to her on new year's eve and told Caroline her new found revelation.
But it stuck. It was one of the only consistent things going on in their lives. Alex didn't talk, and Caroline did the talking for the both of them.
Actually Alex did talk, but only on New Year's Eve as the clock strikes twelve. Three small words uttered in the confines of Carolines room to avoid anyone hearing the silent girl.
"I love you,"
"No matter what,"

The prologue is done! Its was super short but to me thats what a prologue is.
