“Kanha,” echoed Balarama’s voice in the royal palace of Dwaraka

“Kanha,” echoed Balarama’s voice in the royal palace of Dwaraka. It was normal for everyone who lived in that palace. In fact, they were even used to commotions and chaos and all kinds of things that shouldn’t be done in a royal palace that belonged to the royal family.

But what could those poor residents of the palace even do when Krishna and Balarama were the reason behind that chaos! The two most feared and powerful warriors to ever exist even turned into kids at times.

Balarama, as usual, was searching for his younger brother who, as usual, was not to be found anywhere. He could have sworn upon the sacred name of Lord Shankara that he searched the entire palace (including the dungeons) and asked almost every person to have walked in the palace twice. But the fruit of this entire tiring process was…Nothing.
Krishna still wasn’t found…

It was like his daily routine. He didn’t know the palace as much when it built and his wonderful siblings would drag him to explore the palace at midnight, as much as he knew it now. All thanks to his brother who had new places to come up with to visit at early mornings.

The places he was found were some of the most unusual places one could visit. Sometimes it was Satyaki’s mansion to have breakfast or visited the big canal near the sea or sit on the largest boulder in the in forests of Dwaraka which was infront of a den or even…well, Krishna was not at all ‘usual’.

Once he even visited the dungeons. When asked, he simply answered that he was just sharing the sorrows with the prisoners. That might seem a bit odd for any mere mortal. But that proved that Krishna was, by all means, indeed great!

To avoid all this, Balarama once even reckoned to have him chained up before he slept but fortunately, Revati came to Krishna’s aid and spoke against that idea. He wanted to have his brother told off for his disappearances and appearances at the most odd places. But Krishna was ready for it.

He had two major defences against his loved ones, especially Balarama. One, were his innocent puppy eyes which he could summon at any time. Even diamond would melt into liquid if it looked at those eyes.

And the second one was, Revati. The moment Balarama wedded her, she was a part of Krishna’s gang at Dwaraka. Even if her husband looked at her brother-in-law or sister-in-law with wide, threating eyes, she would come piercing through all the obstacles to support them.

That’s exactly what sisters-in-law are for!

Balarama was not at all excited to know where his brother was today. He strongly believed that he was in the palace. Whenever his inner sense predicted anything, it was mostly right.

He was going to search the palace again from the terrace to the basement again but was held back this time.

“Oh my goodness!” he let out at the fifth corridor of the fourth floor.

Before him were nearly five kids, Charudeha, Charudeshna, Swarabhanu, Ulmuka and Charumati and giggling presumably at some joke. Supervising them was Lakshana, Krishna seventh wife, standing a few inches from them with her hands on her hips and her lips curbed into a beautiful smile.
