Mornings at Dwaraka are quite pleasant. With the chirping of the birds in the gratifying atmosphere, breakfast would seem more delicious than ever. Besides, Revati was an awesome cook. Maa Annapurna descended on the earth.
Tips and tricks to make food even more delicious were manifested from Treta Yuga. She had magic in her hands! Even the simplest of all dishes had outstanding taste when prepared by her. Anyone who tasted food prepared by couldn’t help but be her ardent fan (Arjuna even suspected that one of the reasons why Bheema served as Balarama’s pupil was her delicious food).
So, breakfast in Dwaraka’s peaceful atmosphere was just like elixir!
The breakfast room was flooded with people once the bell was rung. It seemed like it had filled with swarming bees. At the head, Krishna sat besides Rukmini, both looking equally magnificent in their respective attires, where one being dusky as the dusk was adorned in Pitambara and the other who was as fair as milk was decked in blood red robes. The combination was black and white.
Balarama sat besides Krishna, both brothers looking like the sun and the moon. Balarama engaged a not so interested Krishna in those very error-ed documents. Half of his intrest was in the curd, Rohini was churning, quarter of it in eating the food served in his plate, a bit more in listening to the gossips that went on and the remaining bit in what Balarama was saying.
Rukmini besides him, along with efforts from Jambavati and Kalindi was feeding the children and Mitravinda was telling them tales of Krishna’s childhood. It took the united efforts of four women to keep the children busy.
Satyabhama leant her moral support to Balarama and was engrossed in reading and signing documents. Lakshana was conversed in a deep chat with Devaki and Vasudeva about the politics played in Aryavarta. Bhadra and Nagnajiti helped Revati in bringing and serving breakfast. And Nishatha and Bhanu who were older and sensible than the other kids had their heads down in their respective books.
The room was nothing but a mess, a mess that was actually pleasant to look at.
“Come one Rama,” Rohini said finally as even Revati, Bhadra amd Nagnajiti took their seats. Krishna’s eyes twinkled at these words from his mother, “Let him atleast have his breakfast. The work can wait.”
“Thank you Maa.”
“Pardon me?”
“What was yesterday’s commotion about?” Krishna immediately changed the topic as Balarama glared furiously at him. It was best to change topics when you start receiving such deadly glares, that too from your elder brother.
Nagnajiti huffed as she served rotis to everyone present, “You should have seen the condition of the kitchens yesterday. Took more than three hours to clean them. They looked like someone had played holi, that too in advance.”
The children immediately buried their heads in their plates. It wasn’t unknown to anyone that who that ‘someone’ was indicated too.
“Wow!”
