Gwen's POV
Levi and I walked back into the living room, our arms full of juice boxes, sodas, chips, Nutella and bread, carrots, and candy. We put the food on the coffee table and I saw that everyone's eyes were big as the huddled in a group on the floor, except Emmie who was leaned back on the couch.
"What happened?" I asked.
"The notebook," Ava said without looking up.
"What about it?" Levi asked.
"There's this note in it that we don't think was there before." Tony said slowly, handing me the notebook. I looked in it and it was true. The note that was there was not there before I left the room. I would have seen it. I nodded.
"This is freaky." Ava said.
"Come on." Emmie said from her laid back position on the couch. "Do you guys really think it was Sophie who came and wrote this while you guys were in the kitchen and we were all sitting here?"
"It is her handwriting." Tony said.
"That means that her ghost is here!" Levi yelled. "Cool. Hi Sophie." Levi said to nothing.
We all looked around like we expected to see Sophie's ghost standing around, laughing at us.
"This is so freakin scary." Ava whispered.
"No," Emmie said. "She is not a ghost. There's no such thing."
"How do you know?" Ava said. "She could be here watching you."
Levi said to Emmie. "Cursing you for not believing in her."
Ava nodded. "Scary."
Charlie spoke up making us all silent. "If she was going to 'come back' she wouldn't be a ghost. She would be an angel."
We all nodded, except Tony who glared at Charlie. Hmmm...
"Freaky." Ava said.
"Will you SHUT UP?" Emmie sat up and yelled at Ava.
Ava shrunk back because she knew that Emmie could throw a punch. I layed the notebook on the coffee table. "Let's just leave that alone for a while. Anyone up for, like, Mean Girls or something?"
They all slowly nodded and went to sit down. I put in a movie and sat in between Ava and Levi. Ava had a bag of chips and a blanket, Levi and I were sharing a blanket while I snacked on a spoonful of Nutella, Levi shared a bag of chips with Tony who was sitting next to Emmie who had her own blanket. Charlie sat in the recliner with a blanket and a bag of Twislers. Mean girls started and halfway through Tony took the remote from me and paused the movie.
"Potty break!" He yelled and ran upstairs to the bathroom.
"I want water." Emmie said and got up to walk to the kitchen.
I watched as she walked into my kitchen. When I looked around the room again, Charlie was gone, too. That left me and Levi, with Ava playing on her phone.
"So how are you holding up with her death?" I asked.
Levi didn't really answer.
"If it makes you feel any better I feel terrible." I said.
Levi shrugged. "There's not much to think about. She's dead."
Ava let out an aggravated snort. I realized that she must have been listening to our conversation.
"You act like you didn't even care about her." Ava said quietly.
Levi raised his eyebrows. "What did you just say?"
