Moving Day - Yay.

Great. Today is just great.

First, I have to move away from all my friends into this little town in the middle of nowhere, and now I cant find my stupid jacket. I walk into my new bedroom and sigh. It's barely a bedroom. I throw my stuff on the bed and start looking through the  boxes for my charcoal leather jacket that my dad gave me before he left when I was 6. I felt the leathery texture of the jacket and pulled it out of the bottom of the box. I threw it on over my white Beatles t-shirt, and started unpacking.

A couple minutes later i heard a knock at my bedroom door.

'Come in.' I said. My mother walked in and looked around. she started helping me unpacked and sighed.

'Hon, how about you go explore. I'll finish unpacking.'

'Are you sure Mama?'

She nodded and kissed my head.

'Oh, and if you go in anywhere, can you get me some more cigs?' She added. I nodded and exited my small trailer and started walking down the street. There was a DX about a mile down the road. I'd go down there, get a Dr. Pepper and walk home. As I was walking, a blue Mustang slowed down. There were about 3 boys in the back and 2 in the front. I threw my h/c hair into a bun and continued walking, as though nothing was wrong, hoping they'd go away.

'Woah! Hey there, beautiful.' One of them said, while another one cat-called me. I just continued walking. I could see the DX up ahead.

'Playing hard to get, huh?' I just continued to ignore them. I don't need any boys. They continued to cat-call me and laugh. I walked up into the DX lot when one of em called,

'You'll like me!'

'I doubt it.' I called back.

'She speaks!' He retorted, and that was the last I heard before I entered the gas station. There were two boys. One was working at the ice cream station, flirting with girls, and another was at the cash register. Girls were attempting to flirt with him, but were obviously failing.  Great. This town is full of players too. Most of the girls in the gas station either had a face full of makeup and punk rock clothes on, or barely any makeup and nice, soft clothes on.

I then studied the boys. The one at the ice cream bar was tall, and his hair was a dark brown with an arrangement of complicated swirls. He looked like he would be the kind of boy to say he loved you, and then cheat on you multiple times. And get away with it.  I couldn't say he wasn't good looking though. I looked at the boy at the cash register who looked done with all the girls. He had dark gold hair, but his wasn't as complicated as the other boys. He looked like a movie star. I could see why the girls were flirting with him.

I walked to the back of the store and grabbed a Dr. Pepper and a Pepsi for my mom. I walked through the candy aisle and grabbed some Razzles and Starbursts.  I walked up to the cash register and pushed my way past the girls. The boy rolled his eyes.

'I don't want your number.' He said.

'And I don't want to give it to you.' I retorted. 'Just these. And can I get a pack of cigarettes, too?' I asked, pulling out my wallet.

'I'm gonna need some ID for that.' He said smugly.

'Relax.' I said rolling my eyes 'They're for my mom. I don't smoke.'

'I've heard that one too many times.' He said. I spotted a pack of cigarettes in the pocket of his work suit.

'Mhm.. is it the same excuse you use?' I asked, motioning towards his pocket.

'Yes. It is, indeed.' He said, turning around and grabbing me a pack. '55 cents.' I pulled a dollar outta my pocket and while he was getting change he decided to start small talk.

'Why haven't I seen you around here before?'

'I just moved here. I'm about a mile up the road.'

'Neat. I'm about a mile and half. What's your name?'

'Y/N L/N. You?'

'Sodapop Curtis.' He answered. I snickered.

'Funny. Whats your real name?'

'Sodapop. It really is, it even says it on my birth certificate. But you, can call me Soda.' He winked.

'Okay. Nice to meet you Soda. Maybe I'll see you around.'

'Maybe.' He said and flashed me a billion dollar smile. I flashed him a wide smile right back and walked out of the store, happy that maybe I just made a new friend.

Soda's POV

As I watched Mystery Girl (I already forgot her name) exit the gas station, I looked over at Steve to find he was already looking at me. He raised his eyebrows and turned back to the ladies. They weren't even buying anything. I couldn't take it anymore. I grabbed a chair from the bar and stood up on it.

'If you're not buying anything- LEAVE!' I yelled. The girls groaned and mumbled as they walked out one by one. I jumped down and put the chair back where it was. Steve turned to me and threw his arms up.

'What's the matter with you, man?'

'I'm just tired of it. They aren't even buying anything. That girl is the only one who bought something. '

'She was cute.' Steve added, almost like he was hinting something.

'Yeah, sure I guess. We should head home though, Jesse should be here by now.'

(A/N guys idk who jesse is ok just use ur imagination 😌

Right on cue, Jesse walked in to the store and took over my place behind the cash register. I gave him a high five and exited the gas station with Steve following me. I saw that girl up ahead and decided to catch up with her.
