"I will admit that I've been running away for a long time. I'm sorry, everyone. I was unable to protect the people of Poisson..... It is my duty to stand trial for my crimes." Furina spoke as she stepped forward, her voice reaching the ears of the Fontanians in the audience, however.... Those words did not reach their hearts as they simply seeked entertainment, treating even their own Archon as a form of amusement.
After all, is that not how trials are to be seen? A mere form of entertainment, a sequence of events that could lead to one's innocence being proven, their character vindicated and the people's trust not lost in them.
Or should misfortune strike and such a person is deemed guilty by the Oratrice, they will be locked away in the Fortress of Meropide in the depths of the ocean where not even a single sliver of the daylight that they so dearly long for reaches; they will be reformed and go on to become better people, then rejoin society or stay in the Fortress and lead satisfactory lives.
They will have their lives turned upside down in the case that they truly are innocent. But such a person will be shunned after returning to the overworld, after all, every villain in a story must be malicious or harbor evil in their hearts, right?
Well, this is the story of a human who would rather be seen as a villain than reveal her plans of rescuing a bunch of nothings from water that threatens to wash away even the traces of their existence, talk less of them, in totality.
Alas, this rage is not mine to express, so let me raise the curtain on a rewrite of the trial of the Hydro Archon and her verdict. Please save all snide comments on her irrational behavior, for that is not needed here.
Let us allow the Regina of all waters, Kindreds, People and Laws of Fontaine pass judgement upon the great nation of Fontaine herself.
Enjoy.
If you choose to, that is.
