The next morning, at Azura's house. Amy and the others had left to town. Azura missed her son, she wanted to hear him laugh and talk.
"Last night was fast..." Azura yawned. She hadn't been getting much sleep after Sonic was nearly killed. She heard a knock on the door and walked over to it. "Yes?"
It was Merlina.
"Hello, Mrs. Hedgehog." She greeted.
"Oh, good morning, Merlina."
"I've heard about what happened to your son. How are you today?" The wizard asked.
"Not too well, I'm afraid... I know Sonic's alright but... I'm just so worried about him." The hedgehog replied.
"I see..." She commented as she held a glass of red water. "Well, if you want; I can give you something to drink. For the nerves."
The hedgehog was surprised at the offer. "Why would I want to refuse? I'm not that badly worried. But something to drink would be great." Merlina then gave it to Azura. "Thank you."
"Anything to help my fellow villagers." The cat just replied.
"So... You work for the King, right? Is Sonic doing alright?" Azura asked, concerned for her son, despite hearing from his friends that he's fine.
Merlina merely nodded. "Yes, he's fine. The Princess has been taking care of him."
Azura sighed in relief. "Thank goodness." She downed the drink, not knowing it was poison.
As Azura drank, Merlina smirked evilly. "Yes, you could say everything is going just fine."
Then, the glass Azura held had slipped out of her grip and shattered as she felt weak all of a sudden. Azura began panting as she felt this way, feeling the world spin around.
"Mrs. Hedgehog!" Merlina gasped. "Are you okay? You don't seem so good."
"What's... Going... On?" Azura muttered out.
"Well, it seems like... You caught something inside you." Merlina simply replied.
"W-What...?" The hedgehog said, weakly.
"Mrs. Hedgehog... You don't know the half of it. Do you know what happens when something like this happens?" Merlina asked, cruelly. "I'd like to call it 'world domination'. And do you know why I'm doing this? Because of the ancestor of your husband and his foolishness that made my beloved grandfather: Merlin, make mistakes. Fare thee well, Mrs. Hedgehog. Or should I say... Mrs. Pendragon?"
Azura then fainted on the ground. Her heart stopped beating and she didn't breathe anymore. She was dead.
"Finally, I've finished the previous Pendragon legacy." She commented as she picked up the glass pieces to get rid of the evidence.
Merlina had left the house and closed the door, intent on moving onto the second part of her plan.
Meanwhile, with Amy and the others. They were sitting by the fountain with Shadow. They missed Sonic greatly and wondered if he was okay.
"I wonder how Sonic is doing right now?" Tails sighed.
"Sonic? I don't really know. But... He seemed to be in good hands." Shadow shrugged.
Amy, however, was more curious on Fang and his goons. "But still... Who would want to kill Sonic and have his corpse? More importantly... Why would they hire mercenaries?"
