Chapter 2: Winter

The simulated version of a sun awoke Fate. With new colonisation plans, it was necessary to build a second sun to keep away the frost. He quickly got ready, put on his coat, and set out.

Power spun his pen, a new thing he learnt from Fate, as he listened. His gleaming red eyes snapped from Fate and Void to his papers. Not much was on his blank papers, save for a few notes and chess doodles, a pastime he picked up from Inferno. Power's mind drifted elsewhere as Void explained the plan.
"Fate, You'll need to unfuse. It's the only way we'll be able to get any work done." Void said. Fate immediately glowed white, splitting into the four heroes. Jamie immediately started assigning roles. "Alright, Elliot will work with Spectre to finish the buildings and healing. Me and Astral will help with the Army. Inferno and Polaris, I have a special task for you.". Inferno smiled. A special task from Jamie always meant something interesting. Jamie continued. "I would like you, Scarlet and Polaris, to train Winter. She could prove to be a powerful warrior.". Both Polaris and Inferno looked at each other in excitement. Inferno responded on behalf of both of them. "We'll get the job done."

Winter looked unenthusiastic at Polaris, Inferno and Scarlet. Winter had a soft look, wearing short black gloves, her loose white outfit exposing her shoulders. She wore black pants, with a black jacket tied at her waist. Parts of her hair fell down to the front of her shoulders, with the rest tied into a large ponytail, reaching far down, tied with a black ribbon. Her shining blue gaze really stood out however, Incaptivating many teenagers who looked at her. "Are you ready, Winter?" Inferno said happily. "Dad, seriously? Training?". Inferno gave a thumbs up. "Trust me, you'll love it if you're my daughter.".

They spent the rest of their training session using ice spells, and Winter seemed to be quite a prodigy. She mirrored each spell with ease, mastering it with only a few tries. Polaris's face grew hot as he saw her mimic all his spells easily, feeling embarrassed. "Those took me years to learn, you mastered them in about 2 hours." Polaris noted, defeated. "Now, finally, what I've been waiting for for years!" Inferno announced. Scarlet rolled her eyes. "I guess I'll allow it.".

Inferno and Winter stood opposite each other. A stare down of Father and Daughter. Polaris shouted. "3! 2! 1! Go!". Winter smiled as her Dad made the first move. "Flame Accel!" Inferno shouted the incantation as he sped up, leaving fire behind as his trail. Winter easily dodged Inferno's claymore, letting it crash down to the ground. She outmatched Inferno in speed, even with his spell. Winter raised her hand, and in seconds the arena was covered in a thick mist. Polaris's mouth gaped open. "To take Jamie's Pale Rain and convert it into a smokescreen! That is Jamie level tactical genius. I'm really doubting Winter even is Inferno's kid at this point.". Scarlet laughed. "Don't worry. She just has my brains. Her heart is all Inferno.".

Winter's excitement grew as the match continued. Her Dad swung her claymore at her, crashing through an icy pillar. She easily dodged however, placing one hand on the claymore to propel herself over Inferno. She quickly released a hail of icicles. Inferno frantically brought his claymore to defend, letting a few icicles slip by and graze him. He laughed. "Tis' but a scratch.". Inferno summoned two fireballs by his side, releasing them on his daughter. Winter prepared a counterattack, conjuring a huge meteor of ice. "I'll win this!" Winter shouted, immersed in the battle. A huge explosion of steam covered the battlefield as the attacks met. As the smoke cleared, both still stood, ready to continue.
"That's enough." Polaris said. He held up his phone to reveal a text from Void.

[18:32] Report back to HQ. Bring Winter.

The Four of them knocked on Void's doors. "Come in." A voice said from behind the thick wooden door. They went in, and stood in front of Void. "How are you Winter?" Void asked, "I heard from you Father your growth in battle is quick.". Winter, Immediately gauging the power gap between her and the man she stood in front, changed tone. "Thank you.". Void smiled. "Jamie has asked to battle you tomorrow, to see your growth. You'll find him much like yourself.". Winter smiled as her heart flared up with the fire for battle. "Let him bring it on."
