As we approached the looming silhouette of the haunted house, Alizée couldn't resist a nervous giggle. "Well, this is it, folks. Our grand entrance into the abyss of terror," she declared with mock seriousness.

Nicholas tried to look brave, but his trembling hands betrayed him as he clung to Alizée's arm. "Right, a walk in the park," he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper.

Liam, always the joker, flashed a mischievous grin. "Who's ready for a spine-tingling adventure filled with thrills, chills, and maybe a few spills?" he exclaimed, earning a reluctant chuckle from the group.

Sebastian, usually stoic, couldn't help but crack a smile at Liam's antics. "I suppose it's too late to turn back now," he remarked, his eyes darting nervously toward the shadowy entrance.

As we stepped into the hall, excitement tingled in the air, the walls adorned with mysterious paintings that seemed to peer into our souls.

"Look, that painting's moving!" Liam's astonishment echoed through the room.

Intrigued, we approached, initially skeptical, but soon realizing he spoke the truth. It was a well detailed portrait of an old man holding a glass of wine the eyes of the figure is continuously moving, sending shivers down our spines. Nicholas tightened his grip on Alizée, his fear palpable. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at his reaction.

Suddenly, a haunting voice filled the hall, its echo bouncing off the walls

Suddenly, a haunting voice filled the hall, its echo bouncing off the walls. "Listen closely to the echoes," it whispered, "They hold the key to unlocking hidden passages. Follow the portraits' gaze. Their silent guidance will lead you through the labyrinth of rooms." It sent a chill down my spine, though I could see Nicholas trying to muster courage, albeit unsuccessfully.

"I think we should follow his gaze." Sebastian suggested and we nodded.

As we followed the gaze of the portrait, we found ourselves at the corner of the room where its eyes seemed to fixate. Nicholas noticed something on the table where the gaze had halted – a pair of eyes.

"I don't think they're part of the puzzle," Nicholas remarked, his  curiosity piqued.

"But they must be," countered Alizée, swiftly taking the eyes from Nicholas and approaching the painting. Mounted on the wall was a skeletal figure lacking eyes, a detail we had overlooked. Alizée, however, had not missed it. She carefully inserted the eyes into the empty sockets.

Suddenly, the painting began to ascend, revealing a hidden passage behind it. We exchanged astonished glances before following the newfound path, propelled by a mix of apprehension and excitement.

As they ventured into the the passage, adorned with cobwebs and creaking floorboards, I couldn't help but crack a joke. "I hope the ghosts appreciate good company because we're about to invade their space!"

Our laughter echoed through the room as they began to search for clues. Alizée, ever the observant one, noticed a series of cryptic symbols etched into the walls. "Perhaps these symbols hold the key to our escape," she suggested, earning nods of agreement from the group.

Working together, we deciphered the symbols and unlocked the first puzzle, revealing a hidden passage leading to the next room. Liam, known for his quick wit, couldn't resist teasing Nicholas about his jittery demeanor. "Don't worry, Nick, I'll hold your hand through the scary parts," he quipped, earning a playful shove from Nicholas.

In the third room, we encountered a riddle written in ancient script. Liam, always up for a challenge, tackled the riddle with gusto, his determination matched only by his competitive spirit. "I refuse to let a few dusty old words stand between us and freedom!" he declared, much to the amusement of the group.

With Liam's clever solution, we unlocked the third puzzle and moved on to the next room, our confidence growing with each success. As we navigated through the haunted house, we encountered obstacles that tested our ingenuity and teamwork.

In the fourth room, we found ourselves facing a maze of mirrors that seemed to shift and distort with every step. "I feel like I'm trapped in a funhouse nightmare!" I exclaimed, my voice tinged with equal parts amusement and frustration.

But we refused to be deterred, using their collective wit and humor to navigate through the maze and unlock the final puzzle. As they emerged into the moonlit night, triumphant and slightly disheveled, they couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of their adventure.

"Who knew escaping a haunted house could be so entertaining?" mused Alizée, her eyes sparkling with laughter.

Nicholas, finally relaxing after the adrenaline-fueled ordeal, flashed a grin at us "Well, if nothing else, we've certainly earned some bragging rights!"

"We found the key to the exit, and it's only been 30 minutes since we entered," Liam exclaimed with furrowed brows. "It was so easy, guys. And Kai, you were saying that it's unlike other haunted houses, how?"

"Oh come-on Lee, he was right. It's actually unlike other haunted houses because they're not this fun. We're having a blast here," Alizée remarked, and we all burst out laughing.

As we all emerged from the escape room, Nicholas's eyes lit up with excitement. "Guys, look, ice cream! Let's treat ourselves!" he exclaimed.

"Absolutely!" Sebastian chimed in, his enthusiasm infectious.

"Ali, what's up? Why aren't you excited? You love ice cream, don't you?" Nicholas asked, puzzled by her lack of enthusiasm.

"Actually, Nick, I'm on a diet. You guys go ahead and enjoy," Ali replied with a grin.

"What? Why?" Nicholas inquired, genuinely curious.

"She's always on some kind of diet, but when we had ice cream together, that was her cheat day. She's an athlete, you know," Liam explained.

"What sport do you play?" Sebastian asked Ali.

"Basketball," she replied.

"I love basketball too! Can we play together? There's a court nearby," Sebastian exclaimed eagerly.

"Absolutely, but..." Ali began, before Nicholas interjected excitedly, "Yeah, yeah, yeah! Let's go! And Ali, no saying no. It's your punishment for not telling me you play basketball. It's my favorite game too; I played it in college."

"But you always got beat by me," I teased with a smirk.

"Only because I let you win," he replied, flashing a mischievous grin.

I was about to say anything but interrupted "Let's settle it on the court guys now don't start here," Liam proposed and we nodded.

With unanimous agreement, we made our way to the car and set off towards the basketball court, our laughter and banter filling the air.
