Jellyfish

Is it so wrong
to want to be
a jellyfish
floating in the sea?

No stress and no work,
no burdens to carry.
As a jellyfish maybe
life wouldn't seem scary.

I could live in tranquility
surrounded by water,
without the weight of trying
to be the "perfect" daughter.

No need to know
where I am going.
The current will take me
where the ocean is flowing.

The jellyfish know that
they're beautiful creatures,
and they aren't insecure
about any of their features.

Life would be calmer.
I know that for sure.
I wouldn't be blamed
or shamed or ignored.

I'd have no bones
or heart to break.
An empty life
would mean nothing's at stake

What a peaceful life
that would be,
but perhaps not everything
is the best in the sea.

I'm sure it'd be nice
to be a jellyfish
but all a human can do
is wish, just wish...
