Olivia sat with the boys at the funeral of Will Byers, they had dragged her over to the table mr Clarke was sitting at "mr Clarke" Mike politely said "oh hey there, how are you guys holding up?"

"We're in mourning" Mike looked down "we were wondering if you had time to talk?" He nodded inviting them to sit, "so you know how cosmos, Carl Sagan talks about other dimensions, like beyond our world"

"Yeah, sure, theoretically."

"Right, theoretically, so how do we travel there" Mike asked "well, basically there are parallel universes, just like our world, but just infinite variations of it" mr Clarke said

"Which means there's a world out there, where none of this tragic stuff ever happened"

"Yeah that's not what we were talking about" Mike said "oh - we were thinking more of an evil dimension, like the vale of shadows?" Liv said

"An echo of the material plane, where necrotic and shadow magic —." Mike interrupted "yeah exactly"

"If that did exist, a place like the vale of shadows, how would we travel there?" Mike asked the teacher "well, picture an acrobat" he drew on the back of a paper plate explain it too the Children and the teenager.

"Standing on a tightrope" he continued to draw on the paper plate, "now the tightrope is our dimension and our dimension has rules, you can move forwards or backwards" he explained "but what if right next to our acrobat, there is a flea?" Mike asked "now the flea can also travel back and forth, just like the acrobat. Right?"

"Right" Mike and Liv nodded

"Here's where things get really interesting. The flea can also travel this way" drawing downwards on the paper plate "along the side of the rope"

"He can even go underneath the rope" he said "upside down" the group said in unison "exactly"

"But we're not the flea, we're the acrobat, in this metaphor, we're the acrobat" the group nodded along "so we can't go upside down?" The blonde asked "no" he shook his head
