in which y/n has a panic attack while her boyfriend, Ben, has a game. When the game is finally over and he arrives at home, he finds y/n crying in their house and tries to calm her down.

★・・・・・・★

Y/n has always been open about her struggles with anxiety to her boyfriend, Ben Chilwell. She had learned to manage it over the years, but there were days when it still overwhelmed her, no matter how hard she tried to not let it affect her.

Today was one of those days where the anxiety was getting to her more than usual, and she was at Stamford Bridge because Ben had a crucial match to play with Chelsea.

Y/n thought that it could've been her usual worries plus the fact that Ben had such an important game to play, that probably triggered her anxiety. She was fine when she arrived at the stadium, and she enjoyed the excitement and energy of the crowd.

But as the game progressed and the tension increased, she started to feel her chest tighten and her breathing becoming shallow and rapid.

She tried her best to focus on Ben, as he was playing very well today, but it was no use. The noise of the crowd, the anticipation everyone was feeling, and the intensity of it all was becoming too much for her.

Y/n didn't want to, but she decided that the best decision for herself was to leave the stadium, and go back home. She needed to go back to quietness and safety.

After a short drive, she made it back home, and she was glad that it was finally quiet, but even there, her anxiety wasn't going away. She paced around the living room with her thoughts racing, and tears beginning to spill out of her eyes from all the emotions.

She felt almost helpless, and as if she was drowning in her own feelings and thoughts. This was the worst day for her anxiety to act up.

Y/n decided that maybe taking a seat on the couch would help, so she sat down and brought her legs up to her chest, wrapping her arms around herself for comfort.

She stayed in that position for the longest time, in hopes that the anxiety would eventually go away, but it never did.

The game had already ended, and Chelsea won 1-0. Ben went looking for his girlfriend after the game, but one of the other wags had told him that y/n went home during the second half.

Ben was confused as to why his girlfriend had decided to go home early, but nonetheless made his way to where she would be.

When he finally arrived at their house, he found her curled up on the couch, her body shaking as she let out quiet sobs. His heart ached to see the girl that he loved so much like this.

Without a word, he dropped his training bag and rushed to her side, making sure to wrap her in his arms.

"Y/n, I'm here. It's okay. You're safe my love," he whispered to her, his voice calm and soothing.

Y/n clung to him, trying her best to focus on his steady heartbeat. "I'm sorry," she choked out between sobs. "I didn't want to leave your game, and I didn't want you to see me like this."

"Hey, there's nothing to be sorry about," Ben said, gently stroking her hair. "I'm here for you no matter what. I don't mind that you had to go home, angel. Just breathe with me, okay?"

Ben grabbed his girlfriend's hand and guided her through slow and deep breaths, his secure presence helping her to calm down a lot. Her breathing began to finally slow down, and the tightness in her chest began to ease.

Ben continued to hold her, his touch reassuring and steady.

After a while, y/n's sobs turned into quiet sniffles. She looked up at Ben, her eyes red from the crying, but filled with gratitude. "Thank you babe," she whispered. "I don't know what I'd do without you."

Ben smiled softly, wiping away a tear from her cheek with his hands. "You're stronger than you think, y/n. And you'll always have me, you never have to go through this alone. I love you."

"I love you too," she responded as she smiled at him.

Once she calmed down more, he got up briefly to make them both a cup of tea. They sat together in comfortable silence, both of them feeling at peace after the day that they had.

"Do you want to watch a move or something?" Ben asked his girlfriend, his tone light. "We can just relax tonight."

Y/n nodded, finally feeling the comfort that she was missing all day. "That sounds perfect."

They settled in, both deciding on a Disney movie, since those have always been calming to them. Ben kept y/n close, his arm around her shoulders, and she leaned into him, feeling all of the anxiety completely fade away now.

After the two hour movie, y/n was feeling much better. She looked up at Ben, her eyes filled with pure love. "I really don't know how you do it, but you always make things better."

Ben brought his lips to her forehead, and placed a kiss on it, his eyes and lips full of warmth. "We're a team,
y/n. It'll be me and you. You help me whenever I need you, and I plan on doing the same, forever."

Y/n blushed at his words, and pressed her lips onto his as a Thank you.

They spent the rest of the evening talking and laughing, the weight of the day being completely lifted. Y/n knew that there would be more difficult days ahead, as it was never easy to be with a football player, but she believed that she made the right choice in Ben, and she was ready to face anything with him by her side.

As it got later and the two finally went to bed, y/n nestled close to Ben, feeling his steady heartbeat lull her into a peaceful sleep.

She knew that no matter what happened, they would face everything together, and that brought her more comfort than she ever needed.
