"Juliette Ferras." Called Nurse Edith.

Me and Aaron stand up and walk over to the door that she is standing by.

"Hello." She smiles and walks inside the office, gesturing for us to follow her inside, so we do.

"Miss Ferras if you would please sit on the examination table/bed, and Mr Warner there's a stool next to it." She explained as me and Aaron take our places.

"Alright then," she wheels over in her office chair so she's closer to me. A big machine next to her. "These check ups aren't going to be like the ones you had when you were in hospital."

"Okay." I say, apprehensively. Suddenly, fear takes over again and I begin to panic.

Aaron, obviously sensing my panic, reaches for my trembling hand.

"Why," I sharply inhale, "is something wrong?"

"No no," she quickly dismisses my fears. "Don't worry, it's actually the opposite." She smiled. "In the hospital we had to run more advanced check because... well because you were in hospital."

I take a deep breath, feeling relieved.

Nurse Edith carries on explaining what's going to happen. "So firstly, we're going to take some of your blood. Then we're going to do an ultrasound." She takes out a clipboard and a pencil. "Am I right to assume that this is your first ultrasound? I know you didn't have one while in hospital, but you came into the hospital already knowing about your pregnancy."

"No, this is my first ultrasound, to be honest, I didn't know what one was until this morning."

She softly chuckles. "That's fine, and also happens a lot more than you would guess."

I giggle and Aaron squeezes my hand in reassurance.

"Right, firstly we need to take some of your blood, is that alright?" She asked, wheeling over to the cabinet that stand on the other side of the room.

"Of course."

She wheels back over with a needle. Then, she wipes the inside of my right arm, placing it onto a pillow that's rested in my lap. "Now, this may hurt a little." She says as she sticks the needle into my arm, finding a vein.

She was right, it does hurt, it feels tight and bruised. "Oh." I softly gasp.

"What is it? Are you alright love?" Aaron rushes to my aid. His hands both cupping my cheek. His eyes looking to see any sign of distress.

"No, it's just feels... weird." I giggle at how sweet he is. "I'm okay." I kiss his soft lips.

"Alright, all done." Nurse Edith says, and I notice the needle has been replaced with a small, circular bandaid.

"Oh, that was quick." I admit. "I was expecting it to take longer than that."

"Well, I'm going to run this through the normal checks and then we can do an ultrasound." Nurse Edith says before she walks out the room, leaving me and Aaron alone.

"Aaron I'm scared." I turn to him.

He stands up and pats my shoulders down to I'm laying on my bed, as he pitches onto the edge of the bed, talking my left and in both of his. "I'm here, love. I've got you."

His words don't stop my fears, but they do slightly settle them. "Thank you." I whisper.

"Don't thank me, love." He kisses the back of my hand. "I should be the one thanking you for letting me be involved in something as big and as exciting as this."

"You're the baby's father, Aaron, of course I want you to be involved - and you're also my boyfriend."

His lips turn into a small smile, and his eyes have a look of sincerity. "You know, I have no idea how I got so lucky, to have you and to be blessed to have a little bundle of joy with you, but I'm so grateful that I did."

My eyes well up with tears, yet none spill. "I could say the same thing, Aaron."

He leans down and sweetly kisses me on the lips. The kiss isn't hot, or steamy, or lustful, no - it's full of care and appreciation, love and compassion - almost like it's telling a story that reads:

I love you so much, I love every single speck of you.
If you wanted me to, I'd gladly die just to make you smile, even only for a second.
You're the only thing I need in this world, the only thing I would risk everything for.
You are my whole heart, my whole body and my whole world.

When the door handle clicks, Aaron pulls back, moving back over to his little stool besides me. Then, seconds later, Nurse Edith comes in. "Hello, sorry for the wait."

Was it a long wait? I was a little preoccupied.

"No no, don't worry about that." I grin. "Is everything okay though?" I ask.

"Yes, everything seems to be normal from your blood results." She flips over the page that is on the clipboard. "You're definitely pregnant." She says and I nod, I knew that. "And you seem to be remarkably healthy for someone who was only just discharged from the hospital."

I feel a certain amount of pride and giddiness, hearing that I was doing remarkably.

"Are you ready for your ultrasound?" Nurse Edith asked me.

"Definitely." I smile, now knowing that everything seems to be okay, I can put my mind at more ease.

The little baby is okay, they're doing well. I repeat to myself.
