Sarah's heart was aflutter as she walked into the cozy café where she and James had planned to meet. She spotted him already at a corner table, two steaming mugs in front of him. When he saw her, his face lit up with a smile that made her knees go weak.
"This is for you," James said, passing her one of the mugs as she took a seat. "Chai latte, right?"
Sarah's jaw dropped slightly. "How did you know?"
He gave her a roguish wink. "I'm an excellent judge of character. Plus the bookstore had a little café area - I may have done some reconnaisance."
She laughed, charmed by his unabashed flirtation. As they sipped their drinks, the conversation flowed easily between them, jumping from books to traveling to philosophies on life. Sarah was captivated by James' passion, his intellect, his wry humor.
Before they knew it, two hours had slipped by in what felt like mere minutes. As the café began clearing out, Sarah reluctantly admitted she had to get going. "I've got to prepare for my writer's group tonight..."
James perked up. "You're a writer? What a coincidence, so am I! Maybe we're in the same group."
Her eyes widened. "No way, really? The Inkwell Writers' Collective?"
"That's the one," he grinned. "Seems we were destined to cross paths eventually."
As they parted ways, Sarah couldn't stop smiling. This mindblowingly amazing man was a writer, just like her? The universe was pulling them together by fate's invisible threads. She knew deep down this was only the beginning.
