Hans approached the center of the island with determination, advancing through dark, claustrophobic corridors that echoed with the sound of his own footsteps. Enemy soldiers failed to stop his advance, but he managed to infiltrate the dark facilities controlled by the CSG, where the empire had erected its main defense base. The air was tense, and the smell of metal and dampness pervaded the oppressive atmosphere weighing on Hans's shoulders as he continued his dangerous path.
As he traversed the shadowy corridors, he halted his march upon hearing the conversation of several soldiers. Their voices echoed in the sepulchral silence of the place, and Hans stopped, crouched in the shadows, listening intently to every word uttered by his enemies.
"If I'm honest, I never thought the CSG would counterattack," one of them pointed out with a trembling voice, his words echoing off the concrete walls.
"No need to worry about that," his companion responded with feigned confidence. "We have this battle won, no matter what happens." But his tone failed to hide the unease reflected in his eyes, shining with barely contained fear.
Suddenly, a gunshot shattered the tense silence, the thunderous sound resonating in the air and causing Hans to instinctively duck. A soldier had attempted to kill Hans, but his failed attempt only served to fuel the captain's rage.
"How?! How did you do that?!" the soldier exclaimed upon seeing Hans's wound mysteriously disappear, his voice filled with disbelief and fear.
With ferocity, Hans grabbed the soldier by his hands and shook him violently against the corridor walls, the dull sound of the blows echoing in the tense air like distant thunder.
"Let him go or I'll shoot!" another soldier ordered, his hand trembling as he held his weapon.
Hans dropped the lifeless body when he saw the soldiers aiming at him, his gaze cold and empty reflecting relentless seriousness.
"How did you get here?!" one of them exclaimed, clearly terrified, his voice trembling and his hands sweaty as he tightly gripped his weapon.
"I'm looking for Captain Velázquez, tell me where he is," Hans replied with an icy, empty stare, his sharp voice becoming even more intense.
"Didn't you hear me? What are you doing here?! How did you evade building security?!" the man yelled, desperation evident in his voice, his face contorted with fear and anger.
"You're the one who didn't hear what I said. Where is Velázquez?"
Hans, tired of impatience and lack of cooperation, shot the man in the abdomen, and the others remained static, filled with irrational fear, the sound of the gunshot resonating in the corridor like distant thunder.
The soldiers, in a fit of rage and desperation, felt the urge to finish off their enemy and lunged at Hans bare-handed, but the Hannorian faced them with astonishing skill and agility, leaving them defeated with ease, his fluid and lethal movements resembling those of a puma attacking its prey.
"Enough games once and for all!" Hans shouted with a hoarse, authoritative voice, his tone full of determination and contained fury, as the soldiers lay defeated on the ground, unable to resist.
The soldiers, sprawled on the ground, still refused to respond with the captain's whereabouts, their loyalty to their homeland and the empire remaining unbroken even in the face of death.
"We wouldn't betray the homeland just for our insignificant lives. You more than anyone should know that, Captain Braun," one of the men said, addressing Hans, with a macabre farewell smile, his words echoing in the air like a condemnation echo.
Immediately, the soldiers activated a detonator hidden under their uniforms, and the building collapsed with a powerful explosion, the deafening roar filling the air as debris fell like deadly rain to the ground. The hallway was plunged into darkness and chaos as Hans struggled to stay upright amidst the disaster.
On the other side of the island, Captain Wong and her troops fought fiercely against Hannoria's forces, the deafening sound of explosions resonating in the air as the battle raged on. The tension was palpable, smoke and dust mingling in the air, darkening the sky and obscuring the sunlight.
"Damn it! Don't their defenses have a weak spot?! We've already attacked with heavy artillery! Why can't we advance?!" Irina complained, rifle in hand, her face marked by fatigue and determination.
"Shut up already, soldier! Instead of yelling nonsense, keep firing!" Captain Wong exclaimed with a firm and authoritative voice, instilling courage in her men amidst the chaos of battle.
Suddenly, a voice interrupted the tense situation:
"Captain Wong! It's... It's Captain Velázquez."
The news brought a glimmer of hope amidst the conflict. The captain turned towards the voice with a flash of anguish in her eyes.
"What's happening?"
"He sent us his coordinates; it seems he's northeast of the island."
"Damn it, I hope Hans finds him," the captain muttered to herself, her voice betraying anxiety and concern for her comrade's fate.
