I HAVEN'T SAID a peep to Maddox the entirety of the thirty minute drive.

I hated myself for how keenly aware I was of his presence that seemed to swallow me in until suffocation sounded like a pure delicacy. He expertly handled his vehicle as he zipped in and out of traffic like a mad man. I know his psychotic self wanted a reaction out of me and with my best efforts I stayed completely unbothered in my seat.

"I want you staying next to me the entire night. If you even think about running off somewhere I'll have no problem dragging your ass out of there."

I disregard him and pretend to be reading something on my phone when suddenly Maddox's big hand snatches it from me.

"Hey! Give it back!"

"Did you hear me?"

"How could I not. Your voice is like nails on chalkboard it's kind of hard to ignore." That's a lie.

Maddox's voice is masculine and he has a rasp to it that makes my entire body tingle, especially when I first heard his boyish laugh from earlier. A hidden noise that I know he tries his hardest to keep caged inside the deepest part of his gut almost like he's afraid of showing just a tad bit of raw elation.

"If I were you I think the smartest decision would be for you to keep your mouth shut tonight before someone finds out how simple minded you are." He taps the steering wheel three times, "just give them the impression that you're stupid and try not to open your mouth and prove them right."

"Everyone's entitled to act like an asshole once and while but you really abuse that privilege."

"You've got quite a mouth on ya? I wonder sometimes what you could do with it besides argue with me."

I cross my arms over my chest, "fuck you."

Maddox smiles, "would you?"

I'm trying to control myself but the longer he mindlessly acts like an insolent human being the harder it is to maintain my suppressed rage for him. It's threatening to rupture and something tells me I won't stop the tumult anger I'm ready to throw his way.

Maddox is incomprehensible to me.

He has no shame to act the way he does and blatantly showcase his inability to convey regular human emotions. He pulls them from others instead and thrives off of the mayhem he causes just by a few words and actions.

"I'm being serious when I tell you, you're not allowed to leave my sight tonight." He turns onto a street littered with people carousing. Various of bodies crowd each other holding solo cups and dancing to the deafening loud rock music playing outside which in return vibrates Maddox's car. "And don't talk to anyone."

A profuse amount of people are smoking, drinking, and chatting. My nose crinkles at the multiple couples who are unabashedly grinding onto one another as they suck each other's faces off for everyone to see. The bright city lights shine onto the debauchery of this place and the deeper Maddox drives into the furor of it all the more rowdier it gets.

"How do the cops not raid this place?" The street is boisterous and I can't even imagine the amount of illegal activities that are currently partaking here.
