sorry for the short chapter .. i've been trying to add on to this but haven't had much luck. might as well just release it as is instead of holding up chapter production 😅

"Good morning, everyone." You smiled as you approached team seven, and the bridge builder you were ordered to protect.

You carried a heavy backpack, neatly decorated with a few small pins and keychains. It was puffy, filled with "essentials" and snacks. Naruto's face lit up upon seeing you, "Finally! We've been waiting for you, Y/n!" He semi-scolded. You sheepishly laughed, twirling your fingers. "My apologies, I had to triple check to make sure I brought everything." You then swung your bag onto one arm, rummaging through one of the pockets.

"Here," you pulled out a sandwich, which was sealed inside a small baggy. It was already cut into two triangles. "—We can share, as an apology for holdin' us up a bit."

Naruto beamed as he rushed towards you, eagerly waiting for you to open the ziplock bag, "Yeah! Im starving!"

A pair of onyx eyes silently watched the two of you, along with your sensei. Kakashi watched his students, amused. "You aren't late, Y/n. Just last, don't worry." He informed. You handed a piece of the sandwich over to Naruto, sighing in relief. "Oh, good.."

The blond was quick to begin eating beside you, "Honestly.." Sakura scoffed, "do the two of you ever stop eating?" She asked. You calmly bit from your sandwich, "do yow evowr 'top nagging?" You spoke with your cheeks filled.

Sakura rolled her eyes, looking away with a small huff. Kakashi sighed, not enjoying that all four of his students had their own rivalry with each other. "Let's get going, the sun won't be up forever." Kakashi spoke calmly, beginning to leave already.

"Alright! This is my first time leaving the village! I'm a traveler ninja now!" Naruto cheered happily, after finishing up the last of the sandwich of course. He easily shoved the end-corner into his mouth hole. "Slow down.." You warned, concerned about how he guzzled it all down in such a short time.

The bridge builder grunted, looking down at Naruto to judge him again. "Am I supposed to trust my life to this runt?" He pointed at Naruto. Who began growling. "And this little thing? I hardly noticed 'er!" He held back laughter. Your brows furrowed, your lips curled down into a soft frown. Sakura had the opposite reaction, she couldn't help but start giggling. "How embarrassing~" The pinkette grinned, then she leaned into Sasuke's side.

"Right Sasuke?!" A blush painted itself onto her cheeks. Said boy was quick to shove her off of him, with a short grunt. You shook your head, stepping forward. "I assure you, I'm a lot stronger than I look." Your eyes drifted over to Sakura, a small glare thrown at her, "And I'm not sure why you're laughing, billboard brow, all you can do is throw flimsy kunai's and cry like a spoiled brat."

Her once smug expression disappeared, Sakura clenched her fists, marching towards you. "Oh great." Kakashi muttered, "You got them started now." He said as he glanced at the client.

The taller girl grabbed ahold of your collar, "you wanna go pipsqueak!" She barked, your jaw clenched. "Take your hand off me." You warned.

"hey-" Sasuke threw his arm in front of Naruto, stopping him before he could rush over. "Let them settle this themselves." He spoke seriously. The two adults watched, Kakashi agreed with Sasuke, however the bridge builder was totally unamused.

'It's best they get it out of their system now rather than later on.' Kakashi thought to himself, while carefully watching the two of you. He then let out a soft sigh, 'but, I'll have to step in if Y/n takes things too far.'

Sakura looked around, almost growing flustered from the attention you two had provoked. "Why you..!" She threw a punch at you, your head tilted to the side, barely missing it. You kicked her in the stomach, causing Sakura to wheeze from getting the breath knocked out of her. Her grip on you weakened, so you took the opportunity to then kick her in the chest.

She fell to the ground, scraping her elbow in the process since she had slid quite a bit in front of you. She began hugging herself. "Done already, Haruno?" You looked down at her, annoyed. "Can we get going now? Or will you cause another scene?" The girl didn't reply. Tears prickled in her eyes as she shook on the floor. Trying her hardest not to throw up, or cry in front of the others.

Naruto watched with a look of sadness in his eyes. On one hand, Sakura was acting quite rudely.. but was bringing her to tears necessary?

Sasuke had a blank look on his face, it was about time someone else had put her in her place.

The bridge builder shrugged, "You're right. I guess you might be stronger than you look."
