It's been three days since serving at the 'HUMPHREY WELLINGTON COUNTRY CLUB'.  I tried searching about Luka Lauder, but the only things that came up were his business news. Nothing about his accident. Well, I only got an article where someone mentioned it being around four years ago, but nothing more. There were no photos of him, too. Frustrated, I started closing each article until I found one intriguing one.

'Luka Lauder set to marry Hailey Jones in four months." That was eight months ago. I start searching Hailey Jones, a known videographer, until I stumble upon her Instagram.  Still no photos of him or anything to tie her to him. I gave up.

Oddly enough, I checked to see if there were job openings in the famous country club, but that's when I realised what I was doing. Sigh.

I clean the table of the group that has just left. It's a normal weekday. Business is a bit slower than usual since the lunch hour is over.

"I think I'm pregnant." A wide-eyed Kristy says as soon as I get closer to her. I turn to look at her, checking if she's serious.

"Why?"

"I'm late. Two days." She raises two of her fingers. I only nod, urging her to continue with the list. She thinks about it and then continues. " I feel like I'm being too nice to people these days. Do you think it's my maternal instincts kicking in?" She asks just before holding her stomach. "Wait, I just got a cramp. Nevermind. They are here." I roll my eyes and face palm.

She laughs at my expression as she runs to the back, and I look towards the door being opened.  A man in his mid twenties gets in, I walk to him and direct him to a seat in my section.

I hand him a menu and try to engage him with our specialties. He orders a chicken salad. I go back to the to the kitchen and hand over his order. About ten minutes later, I take it to him and find him on the phone. He ends the call as soon as he sees me next to him, and I offer him a small smile.

"What time do you get off?" He asks out of the blue.

"Depends." I answer.

"On..."

"Why you're asking." He lets out a short laugh as he taps the table with his manicured fingers.

"Actually, I'd like to meet both you and your roommate." He says, making me alert. Who is this?

"Why?" I ask cautiously, eliciting another laugh from him.

"Let's say it's about a job offer in a particular country club." He says as he picks up a fork. He takes a bite and gives a little nod.

"I'll get back to you." I only say and speed walk to the back where Kristy went through. She's going to be over the moon when I tell her this. We have four sections, and most of them aren't full, so rushing to the back for a minute won't be so bad. I find Krsity in time coming from the bathroom stalls looking pale.

"What's wrong?" I ask. She did say she had her first stomach cramp.

"I wanna be a man so bad." She only replies as she lets in and out deep breathes.

I don't mind her overdrammtic response as I smile. "Guess what?" I ask, and she turns and gives me a deadly glare for a second.

"You found a gender changing device?" She asks sarcastically.  I give her a look. "Fine. What? I need to get my pills." She mutters the last part.

"Humphrey Wellington Country Club." I say that, and she looks at me confused. "A guy just came in and want s to talk to us about a job."

"Yes!" She shouts out a response, ending it with a moan as she holds her stomach. I run to my compartment and take out two advils and my water bottle and give it to her. "Thanks." She whispers, taking them and swallowing them immediately.

"Sorry." I rub her lower back. She only grunts in response and lets out a long sigh. "I'll let him know when we get off so we can meet and talk." I inform her. A few rubs later, she seems to be calming down. "Will you be fine if I leave? I'll tell Kyle (our manager) that you'll need thirty minutes to be out again." She nods as she lays on the couch in the employee lounge. Once she's comfortable, I get out and find the manager asking for us.

"Kyle, Kristy will need thirty minutes." I say, and he nods... this isn't the first time, so he understands. Well, he does cause it's Kristy. Everyone knows about his crush on Kristy. I see the man just in time raising his hand, signaling me for the check. I rush to the teller and print out his check, and rush over to him.

"I hope you enjoyed your meal, sir." I start, and he nods while smiling. "Is there anything else you'll need?"

"An answer to my question, perhaps." He answers.

"Nine o'clock." He nods.

"I'll be here to pick you girls up." He says. "You already know what this is all about, so I hope you'll consider." He calmly says, and I nod. I pick up his dirty plate and place the check on the table. He looks at it and places a hundred dollar bill. "Nine O'clock it is." He says before leaving.

"Who's that?" Cherry, a colleague, asks as she hands over an order from her section. I only shrug as I walk to receive another customer. Kristy finally gets back after some forty minutes looking better, and so we continue with our work until it's time to leave.

"Finally.  I've never seen a long day in my life. Did you see how long the last hour was?" Kristy complains as we clock out and let out a small chuckle secretly agreeing with her. Being offered a job in the famous country club would totally boost my savings, and my dream of fulfilling dad's wish would be achieved sooner.

Honestly,  I never really thought of working there, but since I learnt a certain someone owned the place...

"Is that him?" Kristy asks, breaking me out of my thoughts. I search the parking lot and see a black sedan waiting.

"Yap." I reply, and Kristy holds my hand and literally drags me to the car.
