im arika.

this words rang in his ears and all of a sudden he felt lost. he didn't knew what to do. the one who is standing infront of him is his naira not arika.

"yeah, right. arika. actually a girl named naira was about to be present before you. so i thought you were naira." kartik tried to give her a fake smile.

it pained in his chest to see the love of his life infront of him but he still can't hug her. "it's alright sir."

"let's sit." kartik told her and continued with the interview.

"you were good ms. arika. my pa will inform you by the end of this week." he stood up and so did arika. naira.

"thank you sir." arika— naira said before going out.

kartik slumped into his chair and took a deep breath. quickly taking his car keys, he told his pa to reschedule all the meetings he had today.

he drove his car to their apartment. greeting a few neighbours there, he entered the apartment and locked it. he needed to be alone right now.

he was about to go inside the room when his phone rang. he checked and saw it was manish. he ignored it. he wasn't in the state to talk right now.

he wanted to talk, just not right now.

he sat on the bed and held a photo in his hand. "you were really in front of me naira. why didn't you recognise your kartik?" he let some tears fall from his eyes.

after having a good cry, he calmed himself and called the detective he hired. "i want you to check all the details about her." he said.

there was silence on the other side. a little shuffle and then he heard the detective answer. "sir, this is naira mam, right?" he asked, his tone reflected hesitation.

"that she is. don't waste anytime, i just want you to send me all the details of her." he ended the call.

taking a deep breath, he laid on the bed and dropped a text to his father saying, he would be in the apartment tonight.

unknowingly, tears started to fall from his eyes as he thought about her.

just that one damn accident and it changed our lives. krishna ji, aapko mujhe pyaar toh hai hi nahi merese. kyu kar rahe hain aap mere saath aisa. bas apni naira ko hi toh wapas maang raha hu, maine thodi koi sona maanga hai. mujhe naira ke alawa kuch nahi chahiye. please mujhe meri naira wapas de dijiye. dekhiye na, aaj mere saamne thi, mere itne kareeb, phir bhi mai kuch nahi kar paaya. ab aur nahi seh sakta hu...

he buried his face in the pillow and let out a loud scream. he started crying bitterly and slept crying his guts out. the next day he woke up with a terrible headache.

he drove back to the mansion and was greeted by dadi. "kittu, kaha thhe beta?" asking her grandson, she held his hand.

"dadi vo kal kaam zyaada hogya tha aur drive karne ka mann nahi tha toh flat mei hi ruk gaya tha." he replied.

"kamzor hogye ho. jao, fresh hojao, tumhare kamre mei bhejti hu swarna ko." dadi said and walked away.

kartik sighed. he felt bad about lying but he himself wanted to confirm everything first. he went to his room and took a long shower. just went he came out, he saw his mother taking out his clothes.

"wear this." she smiled.

kartik returned her smile and quickly wore his clothes. swarna took the towel from him and dried his hairs. he felt his eyes tearing up but he controlled.

"jaanti hu kuch toh hua hai magar puchungi nahi. jab khud ko tassali ho jaye tab khud aakat batana mujhe. hm?" she spoke making him shock.

"how did you—" she cut him off.

"i'm your mother, bacche." she patted his cheek and left the room.

after the breakfast, he came back to his room and took his laptop to do some work. his phone went off as he picked and checked a new notification.

it had the details about arika— naira. he was right, she was indeed his naira. hiss detective confirmed that kabir had taken her away three months back and manipulated her by drugging her.

kabir told her that she is arika not naira and they both were together since long. he clenched his fists in anger as he read the report.

he didn't want to hurt her but this was the only way he could get her back. he immediately called his pa and told to approve arika and send her the confirmation letter.

"tell her to join by the coming thursday." he said and cut the call.

two weeks since kartik told arika— naira to join the company. she has been a very useful asset. her presentations had helped him get two of the most important deals.

it was now time to get his plan into action. "send arika in my office. now." his usual stern voice echoed in his office cabin.

nodding, his pa went out to bring her. a good ten minutes later, he came back with the latter. "yes sir?" the girl asked.

he signaled his pa to leave. "arika, you've been quite a nice asset for the company. i need you to assist me for a month so that i can permanently make you as my pa. since rishi would be leaving after two months, i would need a perfect pa and you might need. good salary." he finished.

"alright sir. when do you want me to start?" arika asked, without any hesitation.

"tomorrow." his cold voice gave her chills.

she nodded and left the cabin. im sorry naira but i really have to do this.

the next one month, kartik used to tire her out. he called her even for the simplest things. his coffee, all his files, his laptop, everything was to be bought by her. he used to give her unnecessary paperwork just to tire her.

he knew he was doing bad so he used to punish himself. everyday, he made a small cut on the palm of his right hand and then work the next day.

arika wasn't having the best of her days. her boss was making her work too much. she sometimes wanted to just run away but then she used to remember kabir.

god, she always hated that kabir. she never believed that they were together. she just wanted enough money so that she could run away. right now her boss had called her in his cabin and she was heading there.

as she heard a silent come in, she entered the cabin. something foul smelling was burning there and she was already suffering from headache. not able to bear all this, she fainted and the last thing she heard was her boss's shout.

kartik's pov.

i'm so sorry my naira.
