after they returned, no one talked to them. the family understood that they might need some time as it is a big decision so they let them be.
skip to four months, kartik and naira decided to rest the baby planning topic for sometime. both of them worked their jobs and met at night. too tired to even make a normal conversation, they both cuddled and slept.
every now and then, dadi used to urge naira to talk to kartik about a baby. this somewhere started to irk gayu.
she thought, vansh might not get as much attention after the arrival of kaira's baby. naira just used to smile and go away whenever dadi bought up this topic.
swarna and manish tried numerous times to make dadi understand, naira and kartik's decision of a baby, but the old lady was stubborn.
"i'll directly talk to kittu about this." she scoffed and went away.
"how do we make her understand... kartik's going to be super mad." sighed manish.
time skip.
as the sun set, kartik and naira entered the house, all tired and worn out. all they needed was a nice warm shower and sleep. kartik threw himself on the sofa while naira entered the kitchen and bought water for both of them.
kartik took the tray and put it down on the table before pulling naira to the sofa as well. he made her sit and wrapped his arms around her. "chain se baitha nahi jaata kya? aaram karlo thoda."
"let's go to our room." said kartik as they got up. they stopped in their tracks when they heard dadi calling them.
"ji dadi?" said kartik, as he stopped and turned.
"i wanted to talk." she said, her tone firm.
naira and kartik both nodded, "it's been four months and we stayed quiet. i want a grandchild now. i don't know how much am i gonna live, it's my wish to see my grandchild before i die." she said making both of them wince.
"firstly dadi, please don't talk unnecessary. secondly, you aren't gonna die anytime soon so stop saying all this. and lastly, naira and i both aren't ready. atleast not now. naira had just recovered and i don't want to risk her health by adding pregnancy right now." he stated firmly.
"naira you should make him understand. a child mends and makes the relationship more strong." said dadi.
naira politely answered, "dadi our relationship is already mended and we are more strong than you think. a baby shouldn't have the responsibility to mend a relation. and not just me, we both are young and don't want a child right now. we have planned our lives and will go according to that only. i hope you understand."
dadi sighed. she knew they both were stuck on their decision and left from there. naira sighed and hugged kartik, "why does she have to bring this topic? im tired now." she muttered.
"i know love. i understand. let's just forget her and get some rest, hm?" he said and kissed her forehead.
after an year, they both gave the news of naira being pregnant. the villa was filled with happiness and joy. all this, irked gayu. she thought her kid won't get that much importance after kaira's baby arrival.
naira was five months pregnant and was sitting with the ladies of the house in the hall sipping on her juice slowly. ever since the news came, kartik has been super strict about her diet. he always ensure she ate healthy food. he did satisfy her cravings but when she demanded something which he wasn't sure of, he used to give a supplement to her.
"oh baby... you're gonna be a big brother. the little baby will love you so much. my vansh will be the best brother, haina?" naira cooed at the one year old who sat beside her playing with her dress, smiling and giggling.
no matter how much gayu tried, she couldn't help but feel insecure. ignoring all of it, she smiled at how her sister loved her nephew. she never doubted kartik and naira. she was always unsure of the family. they knew how much double faced the goenkas were.
"naira, can you and kartik look after vansh till evening. gayu and i are visiting my friend's house for their anniversary and i don't want vansh to get irritated there." said samarth as he approached her.
"of course chachu. my baby and i will have lots of fun! haina?" naira kissed vansh's forehead.
"thank you naira." gayu hugged her.
"no problem di. he is our child as much as he is yours."
"gayu, take vansh along with you. how much will naira do?" said dadi.
"dadi no! i want vansh and besides after so long di and chachu are going somewhere, let the couple enjoy." said naira, refusing dadi's orders.
before dadi could say, kartik came and repeated what naira said. "gayu, don't take tension. naira and i will call you if any problem occurs." kartik assured and picked up vansh.
gayu and samarth nodded before going to their room to get themselves changed. kartik helped naira get to their room and fed her the medicines. "rest love. i'll see vansh."
soon naira was asleep. vansh and kartik watched some cartoons before started to feel sleepy and he slept as well. kartik placed him on the bed and and made a pillow wall so that he doesn't fall.
he sat by the coffee table in their room and started to work. after an hour when naira woke up, she saw kartik working. "kartik..." she muttered and sat up on the bed.
hearing her voice, kartik came towards her, "yes jaan? all rested?" he asked and she nodded.
"do you want something?"
"you." kartik smiled and sat in the place which made made by shifting. he held her close and caressed her belly. "hey little one, it's your dada." he talked to her belly and kissed it.
vansh too started to stir and smiled when he saw naira. he surely loved his naira maasi. he climbed over her and rested his head on her chest which made both of them coo at him. he started playing around as kartik made funny faces at him.
he was about to fall down from the bed when naira immediately held him and pulled him. "baby are you fine?" she was worried.
thankfully vansh wasn't hurt and the little kid was still giggling. naira started to cry as she thought she hurted him. "shh jaan. look he's fine. please don't cry." kartik calmed her and wiped her tears.
gayu and samarth had witnessed all this, "look gayu. naira wasn't worried for herself but vansh. poor girl even cried. i know you're insecure but naira would never let vansh feel lonely. trust me." said samarth.
they knocked on the door and entered. "we're back!" samarth said.
he picked up vansh, "naira you rest. we'll take care of him now." he said.
"yes chachu." she saluted and four of them shared a laugh. as gayu and samarth left, naira winced, which caught kartik's attention.
"hey, are you okay?" he rushed to her side.
"ow— there was a stinging pain, here." she pointed towards the sore spot as she rubbed to soothe the pain.
"it's alright love, you might have sat in an inappropriate position. do you wanna lie down?" he suggested.
naira nodded and he helped her lie down, "rest love, i'll be here when you wake up." he caressed her head and got back to her.
he watched her fall into a deep slumber and smiled to himself, covering her with the sheets, he kissed her forehead and continued his work.
