Salim's POV.
📍Abuja, Nigeria.
Tired, stressed, confused, exhausted, famished. That was everything I felt throughout the week.
And no. It wasn't because of my work this time around. My favorite and only sister was getting married. And as the eldest son and grandson in the family, I was responsible for literally everything.
Not that I couldn't escape the stress tho..., I could just bury myself with work or hangout with the guys.
But that makes me a bad brother, yeah?
From decorations to chosing catering services for each event.
Not like we can't use the same catering service for the whole events but Safiya, that girl!!
At some point I felt like strangling her, she wants everything her way. When I complain, she says it's not my wedding.
Wetin man go say?
From booking makeup appointments, henna and skincare artists. Apart from that, I took the responsibility of taking my sister to and fro the skincare place.
In my words "skincare place".
I wanted her to have the best of the best and at the same time, being safe.
Being the only female child in a family of all boys has its perks.
And then , there was the stress of having to deal with endless banters from my aunties. Ever since the wedding preps began, it has always been;
"Toh Kai Salim, yaushe zamu zo naka auren?"
"Oh Salim I thought we would be coming to your wedding before your sister's."
"Salim my son, if you want I can pair you with one of my friends daughter, she's a very nice girl, and I know you will like her...."
"Salim Kato da Kai Koh budurwa bakka da shi."
My reply was always simple and short
"Don't worry, soon."Coupled with a fake smile, that is.
Can't they just mind their business for the love of God?
In my mind I will be like oya come and marry me off and see craze.
If this marriage of a thing were in my hands don't they think I would have gotten married long time ago.
With kids sef
But anyways I dare not say those replies I plan on giving them to their faces, I decided to stick with the training my mom gave me.
One wrong move from me and my family will become the talk of the town.
After another round of banters from them and me occasionally giving out fake smiles, squatting to greet elders, sending unnoticeable glares to those aunties, I decided to just go to the balcony.
God knows I might just give one of them a reply.
I stayed in the balcony in silence, enjoying the breeze and serenity that it comes with.
Occasionally muttering "Subhanallah and Allahu Akbar" while looking at Allah's creations.
Suddenly my "peaceful moment" was interrupted by a call. My once calm expression turned into a serious one when I saw who the caller was.
Without much hesitation, I picked the call to hear what the caller has to say."What did I say about giving me the information i require late?" I bellowed at the man.
"S-s-sorry sir, it's just that...." The person at the other end quickly tried to defend himself. But I cut him off.
I hate flimsy excuses.
I hate procrastinating." I gave you one simple task to complete in a day, ONE day, but you decided to waste THREE good days, just to get me the information about that woman." To be honest, I was so angry, let's just say the wedding preps took a lot of things off my head that I had to focus on. He should thank his stars that a wedding was happening in my house.
"I'm sorry sir, but it's not my fault. I've been trying to access her personal information but from all looks of it I wasn't the only one trying to access her info."
Wait, why is there someone trying to access her personal information?
"All that aside, did you get what I asked you to?"
"Yes sir, but I could only get one picture of hers. It seems she isn't the type that posts pictures." The man replies.
"Fine, send it to me through my email."
"Okay sir!" The man replied and I cut off the call immediately, if not he might just go on and ramble nonsense.
I'm really getting worked up, why is there someone trying to access her personal information?
And I'm very sure it is not on a good note.I felt someone's presence behind me, from the cold aura, I already knew who the person was.
Ya Allah! I hope he didn't hear this conversation.
I slowly turned, still praying that he didn't hear anything.
