The sun was setting, giving the sky such a radiant orange tint to it. Airi was enjoying the view by herself, her chest pressed to one of the railings. She was breathing slowly, taking in every detail, from the soft sound of the waves, to the smell of the sea and its fresh air, to the beautiful reflection of the sun over the water. Everything felt and looked so perfect, she wished this moment would have lasted forever. She was safe and sound, back at home, surrounded by the best friends she could possibly ask for. As her eyes trailed over the sky, she wondered if Jin was watching over her, if he could see how amazing she was doing, if he was proud. A part of her knew he obviously would be proud of her, but she wished she could just hear it from him. She untied the silk bandanna from her wrist and held it to her chest as if it would bring Jin's presence back.

"Airi?"

The girl snapped out of her thoughts before turning around, only to be met with the most radiant smile that immediately made her heart melt on the spot, "Luffy."

"What are you doing here all alone?" he questioned, tilting his head curiously.

Airi's eyes landed back on the sea, "Just enjoying the view." she said with a soft smile as she allowed her eyes to close, letting the fresh breeze brush over her skin.

"You look happy!" Luffy exclaimed excitingly.

"I am. I'm glad everything turned out this way, I mean, joining in the crew and getting to be with you again. I feel very lucky."

A childish smile was now plastered across Luffy's face, "I'm happy that you're with me too."

Airi smirked before tickling the boy's side, "Aw look who has missed me so much!!"

Luffy caught both of the girl's wrists into his hands, stopping her from tickling him, "I really did, though."

Airi felt her heart drop to her stomach but tried hard to ignore it as she ruffled the boy's hair, "I missed you too, idiot."

She was glad the kiss from the last island hadn't made things awkward between them, although she could kind of expect it to turn out like this since Luffy wasn't much of an over thinker.

"Hey, Airi." Luffy called.

Airi looked up at him questioningly only to see him turned to the sea, his eyes lost and unfocused, his body seemed tensed up and the stern expression that was now covering his face made the girl unsure of what he was about to speak about, "Hm?"

"I'm sorry I failed to protect you... twice. I'll never let that happen again. Never."

The girl's eyes widened at his sudden serious choice of words, "Oh, Luffy. It's okay, I-"

"Airi." Luffy turned to her, staring deep into her eyes as he grabbed both of her arms in his hands, "I'll never let anything happen to you ever again. You'll never get hurt again. I won't let it happen."
