I was packing with Dina, my best friend, for the field trip that was scheduled for today. I didn't want to go but Dina forced me. I rolled my eyes as I threw some additional clothes into my duffel bag. "No sense being a grumpy goose, hm?" Dina said with a smirk.
"Ugh," I sighed. Dina was always so cheery, it didn't matter what the situation was. As much as I hated to admit it, I was glad she was here. Dina's presence always made everything a little easier to tolerate. She gave me a quick punch in the arm before getting up and rummaging into our shared drawer.
After she extracted another change of clothes, she turned back to me with a satisfied smile on her face. "You know you need your extra clothes too." I shot her a look that said loud and clear, "Don't worry about me."
Dina just patted me gently on the head and laughed.
"Oh don't be so dramatic. We'll be back before you know it," she said reassuringly.
I turned back to my packing and continued trying to ignore her playful antics.
Finally, we were all packed up and ready to go. As soon as the last piece of clothing was shoved into my bag, Dina picked it up for me and threw it over her shoulder. "Let's go, grumps!" With that, she gave me another playful punch in the arm, and we headed out the door.
We arrived at the bus that was waiting to take us to the field trip. The bus was packed full of our classmates, all of whom had the same excited expression on their faces. We squeezed our way to the front and sat down in the only empty seat left- right next to to my mortal enemy, Ellie Fucking Williams.
As soon as we sat down, my blood boiled. Ellie Williams was the last person I wanted to be sitting next to, especially for an entire bus ride. I could barely stand to look at her, let alone be in the same car with her for hours on end. Atleast Dina's sitting behind me.
But before I could open my mouth to say anything, Dina quickly leaned over from behind and whispered, "Relax, she's not going to kill you. Just suck it up for the field trip. I'm sure she'll get a kick out of your sulking, anyway."
