Chapter 6: Eggman

I showed Tails the way to my home. I figured out the city was infested with robots. "What's going on? Is youw home nowmally like this, Sonic?.. It's scawy." asked Tails nervously. "No, it's not...Come on, let's go find my uncle." I said.

We flew off from the spot we were at. Chuck's home was infested with robots. Robots, everywhere. "Sonic?! I don't suppose those wobots awe youw pets, awe they?" asked Tails. "No, they're not," I answered. We snuck around the robots and got into the house.

"Uncle Chuck? I-I'm home! What's going....?" I started. My ears drooped at what I saw. A robot was attacking him. "SONIC!" He said when he realized I was there. "Don't come in here! Don't let it see you!" He warned. "S-Sonic, what's happening?" asked Tails.

"I'm not sure. Uncle, what's going on?" I asked. "RUN, SONIC! RUN AND DON'T..." He started. What the robot did next made my blood boil hotter than the fiery sea. The robot shot Chuck in the stomach. He collapsed limply onto the ground.

"S-Sonic...?" asked Tails, seeing me clutch my fists. "Close your eyes," I said angrily. I attacked the robot full of rage, using whatever I had to attack it. When it broke, the robots retreated. I growled angrily and turned towards Chuck.

Tails was frozen up, completely shocked at what I just did. "S-Sonic.." said Chuck weakly. "Uncle Chuck!" I panicked, going to his side immediately. "Y-You're going to be alright, please tell me you're going to be alright!"

"I-If I did... t-that would... be lying to...y-you..." replied Chuck. "No, no, no, no, no... don't say that! You're going to be okay! Please..." I pleaded. Chuck held out his hand, which was shaking violently. I took it. "L-look out, f-for your...n-new friend..." He said, looking at Tails, who said nothing.

I sobbed uncontrollably, clutching his hand. His other hand made it to my cheek. "L-Look...out... for each other..." he said, looking back at me. He attempted to wipe my tears dry, but to no avail as I kept crying.

"You have to be okay... you have to be... I need you..." I sobbed. "I-I-It's going...to...be okay." He comforted. He glanced at Tails. "Look out...for him." Tails nodded softly. He wasn't crying because he wasn't as close to Chuck as I was.

Chuck smiled weakly at me. "Love you," he spoke softly and his eyes lost all life left. I cried uncontrollably. This would mean I would have to be back with my family again! Back to my old life! Back to being called Nameless! And Tails would have to suffer too!

"Sonic...?" asked Tails. I didn't respond. Tails was going to put a comforting hand on my shoulder, but he didn't. OF COURSE he didn't— he didn't know how to console me at a time like this.

After there were no more tears left to cry, I sniffled, rubbing my nose as I got up. Tails looked at me worriedly. I was fixing to say something, but Tails embraced me before I could start.

"You made me feel bettew, I wanna make you feel bettew. I know this is a tough time fow you, but we'll get thwough it togethew," he explained, looking up at me. "Y-Yeah, bud...we'll get through it together." I agreed.
