Maliah may have been amazing at politics but that didn't mean she was a fan of them.

She stares down the table where yet another nobleman from Volantis was arguing against her advisors. She was getting tired of his ramblings quicker than normal, her patience over negotiations wearing thin.

The door to the chambers opens and Ser Dayne, her sworn shield, walks in holding a letter. Maliah feels herself perk up and sit straighter in her chair. He pays no mind to the never-ending squabbles of the noblemen around him and makes his way straight to her.

"Princess," Ser Dayne addresses her with a small bow. "A letter for you."

Maliah grabs and inspects the letter. "From where?"

"I was told it was from the stepstones, your grace. From the current head of house Velaryon."

She raises a brow. "Lord Corlys?"

"That is what I was told."

Maliah hums.

She opens the letter and begins reading, eyebrows raising the further she read. The noblemen at the table realise and fall silent. Maliah finishes reading and places the letter on the table, her finger intertwining and resting on top of it.

"What news, princess?" Aidan, one of her advisors and the eldest son of house Uller, a vassal house of Dorne.

"A plea for help," Maliah answers, leaning back in her chair. "From the sea snake, Lord Corlys Velaryon."

The people within the council room began to mutter amongst themselves. The crown princess of Dorne holds up a hand and silence envelopes the room once again.

"The sea snake wishes for Dorne and Essos to help with their ongoing war with the triarchy in the stepstones," Maliah states, eyes skimming over the letter again. "He believes that with our help, the war would end in his favour."

"Ridiculous," a noblewoman from Volantis speaks. "Neither the Dornish nor anyone is Essos are his allies; help with his war? A foolish hope."

"I concur."

The council room breaks out into chatter again, the men and women of the table arguing amongst themselves, throwing around their opinions. Maliah nods, listening to the men around her.

"And you," Maliah asks Aidan as their eyes meet. "What are your thoughts?"

Aidan purses his lips. "May I speak freely?"

"Of course."

"I believe we could use this situation to our advantage."

Maliah nods and motions for him to continue.

"We all know that the Dorne and Essos aren't held in high regard throughout Westeros. A potential ally with the richest house of Westeros could be extremely beneficial to not only their view of us but for increased trade. The stepstones are right next to Sunspear; the escalating violence from both ends could cause problems. It would also help quell the increasing problems of trade and others with the Triarchy."

Murmurs of agreements echo throughout the room.

"What do you think, princess?" Aidan questions as he finishes speaking.
