Eren stepped out of the hospital and shielded his eyes from the blinding sun, pain shooting up his side as he did. He looked around for his friends car, when he spotted it. An old, beat up early 2000's Sedan. Eren slowly made his way to the barely running car, and tapped on the passenger window, and looked inside.

Armin looked up from his phone, and towards Eren, before flicking the lock switch on his door panel to unlock the doors, then leaned over and popped the door open.

"Thank you.." Eren muttered, slowly sliding into the seat, clutching his side. "Annie said she wanted to see me when I got released.. do you mind..?"

"Sure, whatever.. just make it quick, I want to get home."

Eren closed the door, and Armin pulled out of the parking lot.

Following a tense couple minutes of silence, Eren broke the ice.

"Still driving this thing, huh? When are you gonna get a new car that isn't so.. shitty?"

"It runs, drives, and stops. Keeps my ass warm in the winter, and cool in the summer, that's all that matters to me." Armin responded, not taking his eyes off the road.

"Yeah but the thing is about to fall apart, surely-"

"It gets the job done, when if finally dies I'll get a new one. Not everyone is dating the daughter of one of the most famous ex-fighters in the world, I cant afford to get a new one right now." Armin cut him off.

"Right.." Eren said, looking out the window.

A couple more minutes passed, and Eren looked down at his phone, opening the group chat with all of his old high school friends, and scrolling to the top of the recent messages.

"Sasha: Damn that fight was brutal, is Eren alright, Armin?

Armin: He's fine, for the most part, currently out cold at the hospital, after the fight he was delirious, barely able to utter a word, but the doctors say he'll be fine come tomorrow.

Connie: That Reiner guy was pretty nuts, I knew Eren was gonna lose the moment I saw him step into the ring

Jean: Connie, you moron. Eren just might beat your ass once he's able to walk after reading that

Connie: After seeing that, I just might be able to take him on myself."

Eren clenched his fist, then loosened his grip, not bothering to read the rest. Not one message from Mikasa was seen. He swiped on each of the messages, and it said she had viewed them all. He felt a slight twinge of pain in his chest, before he pushed it back down.

"So what. " He thought to himself, "She made her choice. She walked out on me, why should I care."

"Eren." Armin's voice pulled him out of his thoughts. "Eren did you hear me?"

"What? No, I didn't" Eren responded.

"I said that the group is getting together tonight at Jean's place. You're welcome to go if you want to."

"Is Mikasa going to be there?" Eren asked him, putting his phone down.

"From what I know, yes." Armin sighed, already knowing what the answer will be.

"I'm not going." Eren said bluntly.

"Eren, you're going to have to see her eventually, you two were just as close as you and I. You can't just, never talk to her again. Despite what you think, she still-"

"Like hell I do. I haven't talked to her since, and she hasn't tried talking to me either, Armin."

"Still doesn't mean-"

"I said I'm not going." Eren cut him off again.

Armin sighed and brought his attention back to the road, prompting Eren to turn his attention back to the window, and watch as the city streets turned into suburb housing, and eventually into the neighborhood that Annie, and her Father lived in.

From what Eren knew, they were always wealthy, and it showed in where they lived. Even surrounded by nice houses, and preppy neighbors, theirs was one step above the rest. He watched as their massive house came into view, and Armin pulled up into the driveway.

"Did Annie's dad get a new truck?" Armin asked, looking at the brand new pick up sitting next to them.

"I don't know. If he did, Annie didn't mention it."

"Whatever, Don't take long, Eren. Like I said, I want to go home. I have to prepare for tonight." Armin reminded Eren.

"Yeah, yeah." Eren grumbled, opening the car door, and stepping out of the car, slowly making his way to the front door.

Stepping up onto the front step, he rang the door bell, and waited.

When the door opened, he was greeted to the sight of his girlfriend through the screen door.

"You wanted to see me?" Eren asked, "Can I come in?"

"Yes, and no. Look Eren, this isn't going to work out anymore. We have to be done" Annie said, in her usual monotone voice.

"What do you mean?" Eren asked her, reaching for the screen door's handle.

"I mean that I'm breaking up with you. Last night was, too much. My dad's legacy is in jeopardy because of that fight, he has to let you go and save face while he can, he's picking up a new trainee"

Eren's heart dropped, and he stopped reaching for the door, as his eyes moved from Annie's to over her shoulder.

"I don't understand." He said quietly. Looking and the massive figure standing in the doorway behind her.. a figure which he almost could recognized

"You heard her." A deep voice sounded from inside the house. "Leave, or I'll pick up where we left off last night."
