Look, my life is very unfortunate. But I never expected to be a demigod . Yes , Avori Thatcher is a demigod forced to venture into the dangerous abyss and probably die in war or of a magical disease .

Maybe a backstory is needed. My dad met a 'mysterious' woman (who I later found out was Athena) in England and then had me . My mum left us after I was born and I haven't seen her since . Fast forward ten years later , my dad died in war, I was never told which one though. I've lived with my aunt for 6 years and it's nice but I've always thought there was more in the world.

Oh, and I have half a dozen mental health issues ; ADHD, PTSD, OCD, dyslexia, social anxiety and depression.

Anyway, it all started on the first day of year 11. My friend, Daisy, and I were having a great day until something scary happened. I was walking to the 5th period and saw something strange in the corner of my eye. "Did you see that?" I asked.

 "What?"

"It looked like that guy had one eye, almost like a Cyclops," I continued.

"Probably nothing," Daisy shrugged it off like normal. She has a tendency to do that - pretend like nothing was wrong.

"No, I saw something," I replied, adamant about what I noticed.

"Yeah , something that could be anything," Daisy said. I knew she was lying. I stared at her as if to say 'are you that stupid'. "Don't look at me like that. Now, come on we're going to be late."

      *****

"I HATE YOU!" I screamed.

"And scene. That's a wrap guys I'll see you all next week," said Miss Smith- my drama teacher. "Goodbye." I walked out of the hall and saw Daisy waiting for me.

"What are you doing here? You hate drama club." I questioned.

"I need to talk to you."

She had a serious face on - she was never that serious.

"Will you tell me what's going on already; we've walked for like an hour." I said.

Daisy took a deep breath and started to speak, "Okay, so your mum is a goddess, your dad died for her, you're a demigod and I'm a satyr."

I burst out laughing.  "Why are you laughing?" Daisy asked, confusion showing on her face.

"You- you really expect he to believe that my mum is a goddess?" I choked out between laughs.

"Well, yeah."

"Oh really? If you're serious about this then prove it," I challenged, before recoiling in shock as she took off her beanie and showed me her hair. There was something on it like rocks. No... Not rocks, horns.
