"Then, we'll be free," Salvatore explained.

"And if it doesn't work?" Alcina asked, her daughters patiently waiting behind her. "What will we do? Kill Heisenberg?"

"..."

"You can't be serious," Alcina chortled, grinning. "Kill Heisenberg? I thought you two were close."

"We are," Salvatore said quickly. "But we all know what we're getting ourselves into..."

"Did you tell him?"

"Of course I told him," Salvatore huffed. "I told him there was a chance he would die. Oddly enough, he didn't take it as a joke."

"Odd indeed," Alcina agreed, nodding. "I suppose I must do what I must do," Alcina sighed.

"Don't be too distraught," Salvatore said, his sarcasm more than clear. "We will still try to hit his Cadou," he specified. "Try not to get too trigger-happy."

"It won't be a problem," Alcina hummed, hanging up.

The girls waited patiently for all of two seconds before bombarding their mother with questions. Alcina sighed, holding up a hand as she explained Karl Heisenberg's potential fate. Cassandra was a little apprehensive to the possibility, while Bela and Daniela were beaming.

"That man thing's blood will be spilled?" Bela grinned.

"He's been such an annoying part of our lives," Daniela huffed, crossing her arms.

As the girls gossiped, a sinking feeling clawed at Cassandra's stomach. She stood there, thinking for a moment about what could be wrong. Out of habit, Cassandra went to call for a maid.

But no one was there.

"...haven't enough people died...?" Cassandra whispered.

The family of vampires paused their conversation, having heard Cassandra's mumbling.

"What was that, Cassandra?" Alcina asked, concerned.

"I..." Cassandra paused, avoiding her family's gaze. "... I'm tired of so many dying all at once!" She blurted out. "First there was," Cassandra said your name, pacing the room with her head down. "I know that was three years ago, and we weren't friends, per se, but we were friendly. Then there were those two maids that we drained too quickly. Now, it's the whole village!" Cassandra threw her arms down in frustration. "So many have died, and for what reason? I know we need to eat, but now we don't have anyone or anything! This castle has never felt this empty, ever."

There was a moment of silence in the parlour. Cassandra had her back turned to her family, clutching her arms to her chest. Alcina felt a pinch in her chest, her grin turning into a remorseful look. Bela and Daniela looked back and forth from their mother to their sister, waiting expectantly as Alcina stood up.

The floor boards creaked under her weight, making all three of her daughters flinch. Alcina stepped behind Cassandra, her tall body looming over her daughter. But her touch was gentle as she knelt down and hugged her daughter tightly. Cassandra froze in Alcina's arms before spinning around and giving her mother a proper hug.

"Only one more has to die, my dear," Alcina soothed, gently running her hands through Cassandra's hair. "I will do my best to keep Heisenberg alive, but I can't make any promises."

"That's okay," Cassandra said, her words muffled.

"Aw, Cassie!" Bela exclaimed, barrelling into the hug. "Don't worry! We'll be okay, and so will the other man things."
