You have never been filled with more anger toward Miranda.
When Uncle Sal confirmed that the body was yours, Miranda immediately told the Lords to be quiet about the events of that day. Angie wondered what should be said to Alina and Alexandru while Uncle Sal stayed stiffly quiet. Miranda said she would take care of it and quickly shooed the Lords out of the lab, saying that she would prepare your body for transportation to the Reservoir so Uncle Sal could give you a private burial. Once the Lords were gone, Miranda unchained you, promptly giving you the opportunity to spit in her face and scream at her for faking your death. You promised that you would have her head for all that she's done, screaming for one of the parting Lords to please hear you. None of the Lords heard you as they were already above ground, letting Miranda do whatever she wanted to you.
It's been two months since Miranda pulled that bullshit and since you've last been given normal food. The rats still came to your cell but they were somewhat reluctant to get close to you so you needed to eat randomly. Sometimes you would grab one of the rats when they got close to you, other times you would leave them be, only touching them to swipe them away from nibbling at you. You made sure to be inconsistent so you could eat when you really needed to, eating twice after waking up once or not eating until you were curled up in pain. It made you sick most of the time and you lost a considerable amount of weight due to the situation. You were almost as skinny as a skeleton with how much you had been starved.
"How are you today, Miss Moreau?" Miranda said, walking into the room with a pitcher in hand. "Feeling any better?"
You said nothing as you curled yourself up into a ball in the corner of your cell, right next to the little window separating you from a flowing stream. It was a comforting little stream that you often focused on to keep your sanity. While you couldn't see the river due to the already little candlelight Miranda used for her lab, you could hear its gentle flow. At one point in time, the stream was torturous, a constant reminder that freedom was within reach but you were too weak to obtain it. Now, it was a small source of hope and relief as your Cadou has gotten used to the conditions and gladly accepts any water that you can get to.
"You've been quiet for a long time, Miss Moreau," Miranda said as you heard her unlock your cell. "No insults or indecent behaviour. I'm beginning to think you escaped and replaced yourself with a corpse." Miranda's joke didn't go unnoticed, but you had no energy to snap at her. Instead, you just bared your teeth and growled as she unlocked your cell door and walked inside with the water pitcher. "Since you have been so obedient, I've decided to give you a reward." Miranda set the pitcher of water in front of you, knowing that you wouldn't willingly take it from her hands. Without another word, Miranda turned away from you and walked out of your cell.
"Miranda?" you called, your voice hoarse but still somehow grabbing her attention.
"Yes, Miss Moreau?" Miranda hummed, locking your cell door and pocketing her key.
"If I do become your puppet, what will happen?" you asked, finally meeting your gaze. "Maybe the village will never know, but all of the Lords think I'm dead. What is your goal?"
"Well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to rope you into my plans now, you'll figure it out eventually," Miranda sighed, waving her hand. "Salvatore has been quiet since your... death," Miranda chuckled, grinning at you. "I can only assume that his grieving period will last as long as mine, if not longer. He will no longer be an issue moving forward and you will be kept here until I need you. There is a good possibility that you will be useful in the future, perhaps to keep Redfield at bay should he get closer to finding us. Of course, that will depend once your power finally manifests," Miranda hummed, turning away from you. "For now, you only have so many uses."
