Chapter 13

Henry's PoV

I woke up the next morning to the sound of the kitchen door opening, that's when I realised I'm still laying on Walter. I quickly scramble around trying to make it seem like I wasn't.

"That's gay" I hear coming from beside the door now realising it's just Lily and not one of Walter's parents. I lay back down on Walter relieved that I didn't just out us to his parents.

"I wouldn't sit there for too long though I think I heard dad up at the bathroom, and get an original way to out yourself that one had already been done" she jokes.

Me and Walter get up within the next few minutes and go back to his room. I go to lie back in his bed but he stops me "no time for sleep, we have a very busy day" he says smiling.

I can't believe I almost forgot about the zoo.

"How are we even gonna get there?" I ask "there's a bus from town to a bus stop near there or we could get mum to drive but if we go on the bus it gets to just be us two" he grins.

"Let's take the bus then, what time does it leave at?"

"There's one at ten and one at two I think but if we get ready soon we can go on the ten bus and then spend more time at the zoo" he says. " yea that's ok it's only like half eight so I'm gonna go take a shower and then we can get ready to go." I say leaving his room and into the tiny connecting bathroom.

We're now both dressed and ready to go. We got breakfast and told Walter's parents what our plans were for the day. We went out his front door and headed down the pathway into town. Walter's mum offered to drive but it's a really nice day so we decided on walking.

We get to the bus stop early with still nearly 15 minutes left so we decided on going to the shop to get something to eat on the bus. We ended up on just getting a drink each since it's still very early.

We get back to the bus stop and there's only a few other people there wating. The bus comes within the next minute or two and we get on. Walter gets in ahead of me and before I can stop him he's already paid for my bus ticket.

He walks towards the middle of the bus and picks a seat to sit in.

"You didn't have to do that I should have been paying it was me who asked you out. I'm paying for the zoo then atleast" I say as he hands me the ticket. " we'll I mean if you insist I gusse il haave  to let you pay for the zoo." He jokes.

The bus ride takes about half an hour till we get to the zoo. It's a pretty big zoo, not the biggest one that I've been to but pretty big. There's big posters at the entrance with lots of different animals on them.

"What's your favourite animal?" I ask Walter "at the zoo it would probably be the giraffes , they're pretty cool. What about you?" He asks "ammm I'm actually not really too sure, I like bears,do they have bears here?" "Well I'm guessing by the big bear on that poster they do. He says pointing over to one of the big posters at the entrance. "Cool" I say as we head into the zoo.

We get our tickets and I make sure two pay. We then pick up a map and start to head toward the first enclosure.

We get through the bugs and creepy Crawly part quite quickly and thank god because I'm not the biggest fan of them and Walter doesn't seem to be keen on them either from the fact he was clinging on to my arm for most of it. I quite liked that part though.

We then saw the birds and some other animals and up next was Walter's favourite, the giraffes. I think giraffes are quite cool too.

The closer we get the more walters getting excited and soon enough they come into view. Their big long necks and dark spots make them very interesting to look at. " awwwww look at the baby one." Walter squeals and I can see why because it's probably one of the cutest things ever. Watching it skip around trying to keep up with all the big giraffes and its fluffy little horns on top of its head.

We stayed at the giraffes for a while. And the longer we stay there the darker it gets, not because it's late but because the sky is starting to cloud over and the nice day it was earlier is now gone.

We leave the giraffes and as we do it starts to rain and then out of nowhere it's lashing. Me and Walter run to the first shelter we see trying to get out of the rain before we're soaked but once we stop we realise it's a bit too late for that. It was such a nice day earlier that we were both wearing t-shirts and even though I was wearing jeans Walter had shorts on and he looked cold. He was even starting to shake.

We remembered about the gift shop and thought maybe we could get something new to wear there as what we were wearing was not gonna be comfortable enough for the whole day.

To our luck there were clothes in the gift shop. We decided on jumpers over t-shirts as it doesn't seem to be looking to nice outside anymore. They were both just plain jumpers with the name of the zoo on them. The only difference was the colour. I got a brown one and Walter got a navy one.

We looked around the rest of the gift shop and as we were about to go to the till to pay we spotted some teddy's. We decided on getting ones , I got the giraffe for Walter and he got the bear for me. I think it's quite sweet.

We leave the gift shop and go to the bathroom to change our tops. Walter looks so cute with his big jumper and wet hair. I look around the bathroom and check that no one is there "can I kiss you?" I ask him. He didn't even reply, he just kissed me. He kisses me till the bathroom door speaks and someone walks in. He parts his lips from mine but he's still holding my hand. And even as we leave the bathroom he's still keeping a hold of my hand so I don't let go either.

We head towards the last few animals we have left to see. It's basically just the bears and the petting zoo.

We get to the bear enclosure and see that they have gone to bed for the night. I didn't mind though it would have been cool to see them but it's not the end of the world so we just kept on walking and headed over to the petting zoo.

There's lots of animals here. There are bunnies and guinea pigs,sheep, lambs and goats which would have to be my favourite.

We kneel down beside the goats, me and Walter both petting them. It's just us and the animals in the whole of the petting zoo and apart from the sheep and goats baaing at each other it's pretty quiet.

That's until Walter turns to me "today was nice lets do it again some time." He says smiling and within the next few seconds he kisses me. He kisses me without even looking around to make sure no one's there and something about that makes me so happy.

Sorry this took so long to get done. I started to write it a few times and just couldn't think of what else to write. But I hoped you liked it.

There also probably won't be any to very little updates over the next few weeks as I have exams coming up and would need to be studying.

But then hopefully over summer I will be able to write loads.
