I woke up early the next morning, filled with excitement and anticipation. I quickly got dressed and headed to the flower shop.

As I entered, the aroma of freshly cut flowers surrounded me, instantly putting a smile on my face.

The friendly florist, Diana, greeted me, knowing exactly what I was looking for. We handpicked a beautiful bouquet of vibrant red roses, which I was sure Chase would love.

After that, Diana expertly arranged them with some delicate baby's breath and added a touch of greenery to create a stunning display. Satisfied with my choice, I paid for the flowers and rushed to the office. I called Maggie early that morning to let her know about my plan and asked her to pick up Chase as usual and bring him to the office.

By the time Maggie and Chase arrived at the office, I had already settled into my desk, pretending to be super busy with my work. I tried to act casual when Chase entered the office. When deep down inside, I wanted to smile.

My hope was for the surprise to bring a smile to his face and brighten his day.

I gave Evan very strict instructions to bring the flowers after an hour of Chase's arrival so there would be no suspicion, but Evan's dumbass came in as soon as Chase sat down.

Luckily, Chase seemed to believe me when I said they were from Alejandro. At least, I thought he believed me.

When I woke up the next morning, Chase was up and he had made us breakfast.

I followed the fresh scent of bacon and pancakes as I rubbed my eyes into the kitchen.

"Good morning," Chase greeted with the biggest smile known to man. "I made you breakfast."

"Why?" I asked as I stood at the counter.

"Because you have been a good host to me, and I want to pay you back."

He slid me my plate, and I noticed that the pancakes were heart shaped. That he had drawn a winky smiley face on the scrambled eggs with ketchup, and the bacon strangely resembled two people kissing. Either that or my eyes were tripping.

"Th-Thank you," I said. "But I have no time to eat all of this. I have to get ready and by the time that I get back, I'll only be able to eat a pancake. I like to go by my schedule and breakfast isn't usually in it."

"I'm sorry. You're right. I'll pack it to go and you can eat it in the office," he said with a smile.

"Ah okay," I said as I turned away and hurried into the bathroom. As I took my shower, I thought about the breakfast he made me and then it came to me. Chase knew I gave him those damn flowers.

Which made a lot of sense as to why he was being too nice.

I needed him to stop. I had to refuse every gesture he threw my way.

As we arrived at work, he tried to rush ahead of me to open the door for me with his quick and determined footsteps. But I was faster, beating him to the door. The sound of the door handle turning filled the corridor, drowning out his attempt to assist me.

Later in the office, he tried to feed me the breakfast he made, but I denied it.

The sad face he made was enough for me to take the container from him.

"Fine. I'll eat it," I murmured.

When I took off the lid, the warmth relaxed my face. The smell remained fresh, just like at home.

I stabbed into the heart shaped pancake.

With a twinkle in his eyes, he looked at me. "Can I feed you?" He asked.
