Third person pov, Flashback
Gotham City, August 23rd
Inside the sewers, Red X escapes from the Team and has contacted about the situation with his accomplice that the zynothium was confiscated by the Justice League, they told him to leave it as it is and they got what was left of the weapons from the other hidden locations. He then exited through a hidden passage that led to Gotham, he removes the sewer plate and gets out as he steps outside in an alleyway and puts the sewer plate back. As Paul was about to teleport away he felt someone was watching him and he knew who it was.
Red X: You're not the only one who can hide in the shadows.
He turns around and Paul knew who it was when the mysterious person left the shadows, it was the Dark Knight himself, Batman. He'll admit that he was impressed that Paul felt his presence.
Red X: What do I owe the pleasure for the Dark Knight to show himself?
Batman: You know why.
Red X: ... Would you rather discuss it here or somewhere privately?
Batman then got his grappling gun and shot to the top of the roof and Red X simply teleported to him on the rooftop. Batman looks at the gadgets that he has and wonders how he got a hold of them.
Red X: Gotta say, never expected to find out a Team of Proteges would be doing business like the Justice League.
Batman: Their covert missions... Who are you?
Red X: You're the world's greatest detective and you can't figure that out. I know you've been digging on how I am.
Batman: Red X.
Red X: That I am.
Batman: Who do you work for?
Red X: Classified. I work alone.
Batman: The remaining weapons say otherwise.
Red X: ... Like I said, classified. If you're worrying about meeting your Team again, don't bother. This was my only time going to Happy Harbor.
Batman: It isn't that simple...Paul.
His eyes slightly widened that he knew his name, which would've been a challenge actually due to his past. But then again this is what Batman was talking about. There was one only solution that Red X thought of on how he knew his name.
Red X: Let me guess... Alfred.
That also took Batman by surprise slightly that Red X knew Alfred.
Red X: I have ways to know things too.
Batman: I came to talk to you about your situation, and from how it sounded from Alfred. You don't have much of a choice.
Red X: Oh really?
Batman: You'll join the Team.
Now he wasn't expecting this at all. Of all the things to do, this is what they came up with and he knew who Alfred talked to and even thought of this. No doubt this annoyed him.
Red X: Yeah, that's not happening.
Batman: Like I said, you do-
Red X: Or what, I continue to do this and you'll stop me. I do my own thing. I work better alone.
Batman: That's not what Commissioner Gordon said.
Red X: That's the only exception. Nothing more, plus you're only agreeing to this so that someone like you or someone from the league has to keep an eye on me, and you know it.
