The only reason I ever wanted to go to football games was because I needed photos for the school newspaper and good-looking pictures for photography scouts. The camera in my hands just had a magic surrounding it that called me to pick it up and take as many pictures as I could. I was really into photography, if you couldn't tell. The way you can just capture a beautiful moment in the perfect picture was just- I don't know, enchanting? It's hard to describe, but I knew it was addictive. I wanted to take photos everywhere I went. And the football game tonight would be the perfect opportunity to help my newsies and some of the guys on the team by supplying photos of the touchdowns or win celebrations. I planned to get some of Gavin if there were any chances. Mainly because he's new here and I want him to have a good first impression to the town and the school. Maybe even catch a few eyes of scouts for Atlanta.

As I packed up my camera, and everything else I needed, my phone buzzed. An unknown number was calling me, again.

I sighed and picked it up and answered the caller. "Hello?"

"Is this Elene Rusiko?" A woman's voice asked.

"I am, who's calling?"

"This is Georgia Magazine." My heart stopped. Georgia Magazine? As in, the most popular magazine read by everyone in Georgia? That magazine?

"We've seen some of your photos posted online and we're wondering if you're interested in an internship?"

My jaw fell open, then closed, then open again. I couldn't find the words for how shocked and happy I was. This was my chance. But...what about Dad?

"Uhm, when? And for how long?" I asked nervously.

"Only for a week." She assured me. "From June 19th to the 25th."

I don't think I had anything that week. Then again, who in this town is actually busy?

"Can I get a few days to think about it?"

"Of course, but please call back within this week."

"Will do, bye." I pressed the red button and dropped my phone on my bed. This was it. This is my chance to make it big. One day working for Georgia Magazine, the next, New York Times.

I thought about whether to tell my dad before I left for the game, but I decided to wait for tomorrow.

I packed my stuff and left my room with an extra skip in my step.

"I'm leaving for the game!" I shouted through the halls for my dad to hear. "Have fun!" He yelled back.

I smiled. I was surprised that he let me leave the house by myself. I thought he might be afraid I'd leave like Mom. Run off and find a better life for myself. I mean, things were pretty normal here. Nothing really exciting ever happened. The football team would make it to playoffs, but they haven't made it past the third round for state. I kinda wanted a photo of the moment we won state finals. If we ever made it to that point.

A honk in the driveway snapped me out of my photography thoughts. I forgot Nathan had offered to pick me up and take me to the game. We would be really early, but it was a good chance to find a good spot, set up, and maybe snag a few warm up shots.

"C'mon, El! The game's gonna be over by the time we get there!" He shouted. I shook my head and grinned. He was a nice guy. One of my closest friends, knew each other since third grade I think? Something about us just clicked and we became immediate friends. He knew about my obsession with photography, and has offered numerous times to be my "model". But even though I don't take too many photos of one person, he probably has more than anyone else I've done.
