Project 1: A Road to Forever

The Start

JENNIE

     It's still 2010, Jennie's still 14. Her second school term had started so her mom had left the day before. During the time they were together, Jennie updated her about everything. They talked about school and how her grades were now that she had become a nerd; about Jennie's friends and, of course, brought her mom to see Rachel and her parents - they now were good friends, after finding out that their daughters were inseparable - and about her daughter's love life. That's when she told everything about Maya, James and her other flings.

     But now, Jennie was on her own again. She was back at school, and although she was sad her mother had left, she was happy she could tell Rach about her sexuality.

     Today, Jennie decided to go to school on her on, so she woke up earlier than usual, ate some cereal and left a note placed on the refrigerator door. She put on her earphones and went on her way. She was listening to k-pop. Although she was in New Zealand, she still liked to accompany her original country culture, in love with the way her idols were making the Korean way of life into music that could be reached all over the world.

     She found it fascinating the things they were doing for Korea's reputation, they were making the Oriental countries "popular". She also loved the power the women had on stage, and how beautiful and talented they were. An intrusive thought crossed her mind. "What if I was one of them?", she thought. But then she started working on the chances of being as successful as Lee Hyori, she couldn't deny it, they were very low.

- Jennie-ya, were here - said Min-Jung.

- Oh, right. Good bye, see you guys later - said the youngest Kim whilst getting out of the car.

     She shook her head, shaking her thought away too. Jennie met Rachel as soon as she got in her classroom and quickly started telling her about her vacation with her mom and her new found sexuality.

- Yeah, so apparently I'm bi - finished Jennie.

- Hm, that's interesting, It must be very cool to like both boys and girls - commented Rachel.

     Anyway, they talked a lot that morning. Not only about Jennie's sexuality, but about everything. They still had some catching up to do, in the end.

3 MONTHS LATER

     Not a lot had happened during these months. Jennie was on the end of her exams week now, getting ready to another end of terms. Her mom was still in touch with her (as always), but now, more than ever. Her Omma had planned on moving her to another country to learn about other things, such as culture and to experience living somewhere else besides just Korea and New Zealand.

     Until now, Mama Kim and her daughter had agreed on her moving to the States, specifically to Florida. During her second school terms vacation they decided to go check out the new life she would be living.

     And they did. They landed and went straight to do what they had planned on. Mama Kim took her daughter to see the school at first...

- So what do you think? - asked her mom after leaving the school facilities.

- Yeah, it's cool, I think I like it - answered Jennie. Something was making her feel a little off about this, though. But she didn't know what it was, so she tried to shake it off.

     Her mom took her to eat lunch and back to the hotel to rest a little before visiting the place she would live in. They arrived and went straight to bed, already very tired. They slept for two hours and had to get up to go meet the woman who owned the place.

- So, do you like it? - asked Mama Kim in the car.

- Yeah, it seems pretty good. I think I could live here - answered Jennie. The feeling was still there inside her chest.
