JENNIE

It was Jennie's first day of school.

It' has been a week since her mom left already, and she's been more accepting of her new life. As promised, her mom has called every night to make sure she's okay and to hear and talk about her day, just like it was at home. Jennie has grown more open to her new family, she could already say they were her friends. As a gift, the Kim's took the little girl to shop her school needs: notebook, pens and pencils, glue... And even gave her a whole new set of colored pens, Jennie was exploding of happiness, and so gave each of the Kim's a bear hug and a peck on the cheeks, thanking them for their kindness.

It was a Monday when her classes started...

- Good morning, Jae-Yong oppa. - said the new family member after yawning.

- Good morning, little girl. How did you sleep? - said Jae-Yong, the family's dad.

- I slept okay, thank you for asking. - said Jennie a little shy.

- Hi, honey, good morning. - said Min-Jung, the family's mom.

- Good morning, Min-Jung unnie - said Jennie.

- Come eat breakfast! Your unnie made some egg rice with kimchi. - said Min-Jung.

- Sure, unnie. - said the little girl.

The new Kim family chatted a little, before finishing their meals and telling Jennie to go get ready for her first day of school.

Jennie got into her room and closed the door. She started changing to her new uniform, which consisted in a white polo shirt, with the school's logo on the left upper part, and a navy blue skirt. She put her school supplies and her new set of pens, of course, inside her sky blue JansPort backpack and headed to the kitchen, where she found her "parents" watching TV while waiting for her.

The school wasn't that far away from their house. Jennie was a little nervous... A shy girl in a school where she doesn't know anyone and far away from her real mom.

Her "parents" had to work, so they couldn't stay that long with her. They helped her make it to her first class's room, and already had to leave, kissing Jennie goodbye and whispering encouraging words to help calm her down a little bit.

Once she got in her class, all her new classmates had their eyes on her. Blushing, she bowed and headed to the only empty seat beside this blonde girl. Jennie bowed to her too, and said a simple "Hi", just hoping to not be judged or bullied. The girl said a "Hey" in return, but didn't stop at that...

- Hi - said Jennie after taking a seat beside the new girl.

- Hey - said the new girl.

*silence*

- Uhm, are you new here? What's your name? - asked the blonde girl.

- Oh, hey, uhm, Jennie. And yes, I'm new here... - said Jennie, politely sticking her hand out.

- Nice! Well, I'm called Rachel, but you can call me Rach - said Rachel to her newly made friend and shaking her friend's hand.

- Thanks Rach - said Rach's mate.

Jennie made through her first day with excellence. She made not one, but 5 friends already! It turned out that Rachel, the blonde girl had already a group of friends, and finding the fact that Jennie had really come all the way from Korea, she decided to keep her and present her to her group of friends. Jennie got asked innumerous questions about her life in Korea. And instead of thinking it was annoying, she was more than happy to answer their questions, which her new friends found very kind of her.
