Ryan x reader!!!

You would always remember him.

You remembered his beautiful eyes that had always been so mesmerizing to you as a child, his bright big smile that stood out among everyone else, and not in a bad way.

You thought that you'd recognize him in any way, you'd recognize him years later, when the both of you were older, when you had moved on with your lives.

And you had thought right.

You were standing outside on a warm summer evening at your apartment complex. You used the sounds of the birds around you chirping to ground yourself as you watched your old friend walk over to the nearby table in the corner of your eye.

Ryan Metzger. You'd always remember his full name. You had always found it so...unique. You loved it as a kid and you'd always call him Ry or RyRy. You remembered how he was one of the very few other kids who paid attention to you. He appreciated how different you were and were willing to be.

You had loved him.

He had loved you.

Your younger self had always thought about secret fantasies about your future with him. You imagined getting through the rest of school together, having playdates and sleepovers, becoming teenagers, then eventually adults.

And...maybe eventually becoming more than just friends.

But of course that wasn't meant to be. Those were all silly fantasies in your head. Your younger, more naive self had always thought that life was a lot easier than that.

You had started to grow apart all too soon. Well, none of it had had to do with you. Ryan had been the one to slowly drift away from you. It wasn't your fault, but it wasn't his either. You couldn't blame him. The older you got, the quieter and less present you had become. And then that one day came when you just didn't speak to each other at all. You had always spoken at least once every day before that. But as you got older, things just changed, you guessed.

Then Ryan had moved. The very day you decided that you wanted to tell him how you felt. It was probably the most heartbreaking moment of your life.

But now here you both were. Both of you, years later.

What are the chances, you thought. What are the chances that both you and Ryan Metzger are in the same place at the same time?

You gathered yourself, turning your head to look at him. By the looks of it, he hadn't realized it was you yet. You didn't expect him to know; who would remember you of all people? There was nothing special about you, you were just the ordinary, drab girl that always drowned in the sea of the popular girls. Nobody knew you even existed, probably.

Well, except for Ryan.

But that was in the past.

Ryan...he shone like every star in the night sky. You'd recognize him in a crowd of a million people. Of all the people there, you'd always see him first. His glasses and his sweet smile would always give him away.

It didn't matter that five years had passed. You still knew that it was your Ry.

You watched as Ryan sat down at the table in front of you and started talking to the girl sitting there. She was about your age and seemed to enjoy talking to him.

You found yourself getting a small spike of jealousy as you watched the two talk so happily. You wanted to be that girl, talking to Ryan about whatever you talked about. It was how you used to be with him. And now he was doing it with another girl that he didn't even know.
