The rain fell lightly against the tin roof. There I was with him still in my arms, I couldn't feel my own legs from sitting so long. His body twitched and he awakened. He sat up quickly almost hitting my head with his own. He looked into my eyes and saw the smudged eyeliner that ran down my cheeks.

" You didn't leave," he said.
"I couldn't leave you on the floor like that."
" Does that mean youre still going to leave me?" He looked at the floor with tears in his brown eyes.
" I can't stay here anymore Braden, you know that."
" If you leave, I'll be alone."
" No you won't bud. You have a girlfriend that loves you, you'll be just fine." The words I said still didnt seem to comfort him.
"But you mean so much to me too. You're my best friend. Don't leave me Sushi, I cant do this without you," he sobbed. I reached my arms around him and pulled him closer. His hair was in dry crunchy strands filled with evaporated sweat.

Part of me wanted to stay with him. To be the friend he deserved and needed, but I knew that's somthjng i could never be. The fights we had were my own fault and I knew those fights gave him a great amount of pain. Once I left he would feel pain for a little while but soon he would forget about my soul. He would able to smile again, and heal.
