Scenario: you ask the boys to teach you how to fight.. their response?

Warning: slight spoiler for those who haven't caught up with the latest episode of the anime (and finished the Shishitoren arc of the manga)

Sakura

"Huh? Why?"

Sakura Haruka would ask you with a raised eyebrow as to why you wanted to learn from him of all people. He thinks he's not suited to "teach" you or anyone how to fight. After all, in his case, it's more or less self-taught. It was something he had to do growing up. To survive. But you? You didn't need to.

"It's because I trust you, Sakura."

Evident by the blush on his face that what you said got to him. The poor boy would make some excuse to not teach you how to fight. But the reason is simple, really. It's because he doesn't want you to get hurt. Not that he'd admit that.

"You have all of Furin to protect the town so you don't gotta worry, y'know?"

He'd probably deny that, deep down, he really cares too.

Suo

"I'd gladly teach you, but I don't think you're fit for it." Suo Hayato says, as kindly as possible.

And no, it's not because he thinks you're weak. On the contrary, the eyepatch-wearing  gentleman thinks highly of your inner strength. You may not be physically strong but Suo admires you nonetheless. You get along with him quite well, as well as his other two close friends. It makes him want to protect you more.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, we wouldn't want to see you hurt, now would we? I don't think I'd be able to control my emotions if harm were to come to you."

He smiles, but his eyes say a different thing. And you understood.

Umemiya

"No." A simple no with a soft smile on his lips.

In the first place, it was bold of you to ask the Umemiya Hajime to teach you how to fight. But he was your friend. You thought he'd grant you that little wish, and it was just once that you'd asked him. But even such a small request proved to be a long shot.

It didn't take any more than that one word for you to cease any more attempts of asking for lessons in self-defense. Or rather, how to "talk" to others (talk with fists, naturally). But instead of letting you walk away dejectedly after the awkward atmosphere, Umemiya asks you to give a hand with his rooftop garden instead.

Still, you can't help but smile. Because even if he won't help you, you know deep down that he'd have your back — or in this case, your front, as he'd be willing to stand and fight to protect you and his beloved town.

Hiragi

Hiragi Toma would be quiet for a moment, recalling the time that his old friend Sako had asked him the same thing. Unfortunately, as much as he should teach you, he'll initially say no. Just the mere thought of you being covered in cuts and bruises makes his stomach hurt. It's an unsettling thought for Hiragi.

"Is your stomach flaring up again?" You ask, watching him take a pill.

"Yeah, but don't change the subject. My answer's still no."

Even if he says no, there's a possibility that you can get through his thick skull eventually. It's a bit of a long shot but it's possible to convince him. Maybe just a little self defense lesson would be good in case you ever find yourself in trouble.

Hell, you could even prepare a presentation just to convince him. Though of course that won't stop him from being anxious and worried about you.

Tomiyama

"Teach you to fight? Sure!"

Tomiyama Choji would be delighted to teach you. He'd immediately drag you off to a secluded area in the rooftops to give you some simple lessons on how to punch and kick. You didn't think he'd agree so easily, and without consulting your other friend Togame first — not that it'd stop Tomiyama anyway.

He's a very strong person and you couldn't ask for a better teacher (who's pretty fun too). He does his best to teach you in a proper manner, one that doesn't involve comical sound effects and nonsensical ramblings about other strong fighters that he's seen before. Mentions of "Ume-chan" are most constant.

Sometimes, he'd pull you along to speak with other Shishitoren members to ask them for tips, which often ends up a little awkward. But you know that mindlessly punching and kicking an opponent isn't gonna help so at least the other team members have some valid tips on self-defense. At the end of the day, most of what you end up doing is copying some of Tomiyama's moves but it'll take you a while before you can fight properly.

Togame

Togame Jo goes silent. Then he asks why. He's not sure whether or not to agree. You can see his green eyes in deep thought. Perhaps he was considering some pros and cons of the situation.

"If I'm friends with a strong group of fighters then shouldn't it be right that I should become strong too?"

"Well..."

He'll somewhat agree but he's not too keen on the possibility of accidentally hurting you. You assure him that you're tougher than you look. He doesn't doubt it for a second. It starts simple; footwork, how to properly use your closed fist to punch, how to use your eyes and pay attention to your surroundings.

After a few hours of learning, as well as watching live fight demonstrations from other Shishitoren members, you and Togame each find yourselves with a bottle of ramune and taking a well deserved break. Well, at least for you, it was.

Sako

"...Why?"

He would look at you with suspicion. You had just come across Sako Kota in casual clothes, out of his Shishitoren baseball jacket, who had just finished wiping the floor with a few idiots who didn't know any better.

It would take a load of pleading and a few times of Sako saying "no" with an annoyed look. It wasn't until you brought up Furin (and name-dropping Hiragi) that he grabbed your arm and gently pulled you to a certain place.

By the river and below the bridge, the same place where he learned how to fight from Hiragi. Sako found himself in his old friend's shoes. And it made him nostalgic. It almost made him smile. But he threatened to stop teaching you if you teased him. That made you shut up for the rest of the day.
