The next morning, you made up your mind. You were going to set things straight with the other coaches, you couldn't have them mocking Ukai over the stupid thing you said.

"Y/n, good morning"

"Oh good morning Ukai," you said walking to the dining hall. "Don't worry. I'll set everything right with the other coaches."

"Huh? What are you gonna do? It's better to not mess with it-"

"I'll just explain it, don't worry," you said confidently, giving him a thumbs up.

You got your food then walked to the table where the other coaches were sitting, Ukai nervously waiting behind you.

"Excuse me," you said, getting their attention. "I want to apologize for everything I said yesterday, especially about Coach Ukai. I can assure you, he has nothing he needs to compensate for," you said sincerely, goofily giving a thumbs up.

After a stunned silence, the other coaches' confused faces turned to amusement and shock, whistling and laughing, while Ukai's face had flushed.

"Look what you did!" Ukai hissed back.

Suddenly the realization hit and your face grew hot.

"That's NOT what I meant, you know that! I told you yesterday that's not what I meant!! I meant his personality-" you stammered in defense.

"Don't worry L/n," the Fukurodani coach intervened, wiping a tear from his eye. "We didn't mean to screw around with you so much, but you make it too easy. Sorry for embarrassing you."

You were a little offended that they'd been teasing you, but you were just glad the confusion was cleared up as best it could be.

"S'fine I guess," you said passive aggressively before finding a seat by Yachi and Shimizu. You'd had enough of those guys for now.

Ukai huffed out a laugh under his breath at your childish reaction as he sat down at the table where he was met by slaps and elbow jabs.

Practice continued as usual, the team was definitely improving but weren't winning any of the games. You could see the techniques they'd practiced slowly starting to come together.

"Ah the trashes are full," Suzumeda, a Fukurodani manager, said as you were preparing lunch.

"I've got it, you guys can keep cutting those vegetables."

You carried the trash bags to the dumpster behind the building.

"Need a hand?" you heard as you swung the trash bag into the dumpster. It was Naoi.

"Thanks, but that's all of it. Taking a break?"

"I was just grabbing a drink from the vending machine. Want one?"

"No I'm fine, but thank you. Lunch is almost ready by the way,"

"Great....uh say, L/n?"

"Yeah?"

"Wanna go out sometime?"

You were shocked. What was this all of a sudden? "Really?"

"Haha yeah. I just think you're great and I'd like to get to you know you better. But no pressure-"

"Naoi, I think you're a really great guy. And to be honest I'm surprised you're single. But the distance...I don't think it would work, I'm sorry."

"No no don't apologize. I thought you would say that, it's a 3 hour train ride after all. But still thought I'd give it a shot," he said with a chuckle. "Besides," he continued. "You like him, don't you?"
