"Kiara it's time to get up, you don't want to be late for your first day of school do you?" Val says knocking on her door.
"Ugh" kiara rolls over in bed and stares at the ceiling. The first day of school. This is gunna be hell.
She drags herself out of bed, contemplating not even going to be honest. She gets dressed and stares at herself in the mirror. She hated what she sees, she's half the person she once was, she used to be so full of life and now ... her eyes looked lifeless.
She tries to shake it off and compose herself before getting her bag and heading downstairs.
"Morning sweetheart"
"Morning" she mutters in response
"Excited?" Val smiles
"Sure , can't wait" she says sarcastically
"I think you'll enjoy it, you can meet new people and make new friends"
"I had friends at my old school" she sighs
"Well try and enjoy yourself ... please"
She nods reluctantly and leaves

Kiara costs through the first few hours of school, trying to stay invisible, not talking to anyone, counting down the seconds until she could leave. After what felt like forever it was finally lunch time.
"Hey!" A voice comes approaches her as she grabs her food.
"Oh hi" she recognises Sarah as the voice.
"How's your first going?" She smiles
"Oh you know ... it's going"
"Do you want to come and sit with us?" Sarah offers
"Us?"
"Yeah me and my friends, they're just over there" she gestures over to a table in the distance. Three boys are sat there joking around, except one looked very familiar. Shit, it's that boy from the beach last night. He's friends with Sarah? Anyway she didn't really feel like dealing with new people and all their questions.
"I'm good, I think I'll just sit by myself"
"Oh come on you can't actually mean that"
"Why not? Because it's weird to sit alone?"
"no it's not that, I just thought you can use some company"
"Thanks but .. I'm fine really"
"Ok if you say so"
Kie walks of and Sarah joins the boys at their table.
"That looked like it went well" Pope says
"Shut up man" John B throws a chip at him
"What'd I miss?" JJ asks confused as he zones in and takes his eyes of kiara leaving.
"She blew me off ... again" Sarah sighs
"Wait that's val's new foster kid? That girl?"
"Yeah why?"
"You know her bro?" John B says curious
"Well no ... not really"
"Ok and what does that mean exactly?" He smirks
"Nothing ... it's nothing"
"Ok if you say so" John B says confused

Later in the day JJ sees kiara at her locker, he hesitates a moment but decides to walk up to her.
"Hey"
Kie jumps a little realising it's him.
"You again" she sighs
"Yep"
"Look if it's about that photo again I'm sorry but I already told y..." she starts
"no no that's not it" he cuts her off smirking a little
"Ok then what?" She asks
"You're vals new foster kid right?"
"How'd you know?" She says confused "oh ... Sarah right?" She sighs
"Yeah she's my friend"
"What did she tell you?" She panics, she doesn't want everyone finding out about her parents, she doesn't want to be that girl.
"nothing why? What should I know?" He smirks
"Nothing" she looks away
"Well I think you should give Sarah a chance, she's a good person"
"Is she your girlfriend or something?" She raises an eyebrow
"What? no" he laughs "she's John B's girl, he's my best friend"
"Right" She nods
"She's just trying to be nice to you"
"I know she is" kie sighs "you should tell her to stop trying, I'm not worth it ok, I have to go"
"Erm class is this way?"
"I'm not going to class"
"Your skipping on your first day?"
"Looks like it"
"What would Val say" he teases
She smiles slightly which in turns makes him happy that he could make her smile, he hasn't seen her smile yet, she was beautiful when she smiled.
She starts to walk of.
"Wait ... So does mystery girl have a name?"
"Kiara, it's kiara"
"JJ" he smiles
She nods with a small smile and then conitinues walking of.

A few hours later kiara returns to vals house, she couldn't call it home ... not yet.
"Where the hell have you been?!" Val says sternly
"The beach" she shrugs walking past her
"No don't you walk away from me young lady, you walked out of school on your first day? The principle called me"
"I can't stand it there" she sighs
"You need to give it a chance kiara" she calms down
"I did! And I hate it there! There's absolutely nothing for me here"
"That isn't true, you have the ability to make a life for yourself here kiara, you only have to try"
"What if I don't want to? What if I was happy with the life I had before?"
"Sweetheart there is no point dwelling on something you can't have, your life has changed now and it won't go back to how it was"
"God don't you think I know that! That's all I ever think about! And it's agony!"
"You have to stop torturing yourself. You can be happy here"
"I'm a lost cause Val, just leave me be"
