"What's bothering you father?" asked Samual, Richard's oldest child. "Well, you see son, your father has been very busy lately with this patient. For the first time in my entire career as a therapist, never before have I come across a harder case." Said Richard. "You don't have to talk to me like that, I'm now eighteen years old and practically a man." "I'm sorry Samual, I guess I'll just always view you and your sister as children. That is until you pay the bills!" His dad began to chuckle. Some patients found it comforting, others found it unnerving. Samual fell into the comfortable category.
"What's so challenging about this case?" Asked Samual, he and his father were in the car driving to the workplace. "Well, this patient you see is of very high value and every precaution must be taken. We have them sequestered from our normal group. This also means I'm given some of the finest equipment to work with but despite this I just can't seem to get into her head." "Her head?" "Yes, it's a female." "Why is she so valuable?" "They believe they can use her to aid us in the inevitable wars." Samual let out a huff, "What can some girl do for this great country of Magic?" "I have no clue, they don't tell me... But I'm dying to find out." They had reached the office. "I have a feeling today will be quite successful, I have a few new methods I hope to try that will allow me to better connect with the patient." Samual liked it when his father was happy, it made him happy.
"Alright, I've got some work to do with the patient, but I'll show you around later." Said Samual's dad, they had planned to tour the office later as Samual seemed to be very interested in his father's work. "Just wait for me in my office, you know where it is right?" "Yea, see you then." His father waved then went through the steel door in front of him and Samuel could hear the door lock on the inside. As the door closed, he could almost swear he heard a faint voice cry out, "I would never hurt you.. I love you-" with a somewhat perfidious tone. Well, it was now time to satisfy his boredom for the next thirty to two hours while his dad worked his magic.
Samuel discovered that he could satisfy his boredom by working on his poems. He had discovered his love for poetry a few years back and he had been working on them since then. He needed inspiration though because you can't just come up with one on the spot. He scanned the office for something to inspire him and at last his eyes settled on a hand-colored drawing that hung on his father's poster wall. His father had had many successful clients before this girl and almost each and every one had written him a card or drawn him some art as a thank you. This one in the center was far different from the others.
In the center of it was a roughly scribbled man that somewhat resembled his father, and next to him was another scribbled piece that looked somewhat like a girl. The girl had blue dots for eyes and snowy white hair. The girl was holding hands with his dad and hearts were drawn all over the page. It was signed by someone named Mia. Samuel found it a little disturbing this girl's obsession with his dad, but then again it wasn't uncommon for the mentally insane to be obsessed with the only human in their lives.
He started writing a poem called Play Time about a boy and the snow, inspired of the strange drawing on the wall. He was halfway through when he heard an alarm going off from somewhere in the building. He ran to the door to see two heavily armed guards running by yelling orders to each other. "What's going on?!" He called out. "Stay where you are, there has been a breach!" Yelled back one. Samual was confused, a breach of what, or of who? He needed to find his father.
He began running through the halls in the path of the soldiers, he figured that if there was danger being near the heavily armed soldiers would be the safest place. He ran for about two minutes before he came to the origin of the alarm. It was the cell that his dad had entered. "Dad?" He called. Just then the two soldiers came out of the room dragging a small girl by the arms. The girl was uncontrollable giggling. Samual didn't like it. Was this his dads project? Then where was his dad? He was about to enter the cell when another large soldier stepped out and said, "Son, you better not go in there." "I must see my father, is he in there?" The soldier sighed then said "Yes, but he didn't make it." "Didn't make it? What happened!" Yelled Samual, not even processing what he had just been told.
