Todd banged his palms on the door, yelling for Ms.Applebury to not leave him here, not sure how long he'll be here.
A day?A week?Forever just left to die for talking to a girl?
God just calm down, you're overthinking stuff.
He calmed himself down, the small classroom-like room scared him.Never being really good with staying at small spaces.
He stopped banging on the door as he heard Madam Applebury just walk away, just abandoning him there. He thought about the girl,Teresa.
His heart warmed as he thought about her,his eyes softening as he fully calmed down, now just trying to find a way out of this nightmare of a classroom.
BANG BANG!
„Todd!!Todd!"He hears banging on a blurry dusty window he couldn't look through..
Todd quickly took a Broom standing behind  the door to protect himself „Who's There?"
„Oh for bloody sake,,It's me!Burton!" He whisperingly yelled out.
„Burton??How did you—„
„Doesn't matter,just open the window"
„that's the issue,I can't,it's locked"
„There should be a broom behind the door,it seems like you already have it in your hand."
How was Burton so experienced with this room? Was he locked in here once?
Todd didn't think for another second before just jamming the lock on the window with the Broom.
As he thought he finally had freedom there were jail like bars at the window but atleast he could see Burton now,his hair was slightly messed up as always but he didn't seem as jolly as usual, taking this ‚escape' thing quite seriously.
„What now??" Todd spoke, slightly out of breath from taking most of his frustration out with the Broom as he jammed the lock.
"Stay back." Burton ordered,Todd taking some steps back as Burton stood up and just kicked into the jail bars with full force, giving some more kicks to jam it open completely.
"How did you?—"
"Oh no this isn't metal just some really really old brick stuff which was painted over to seem like metal,we're on a budget" He let out a small joke before giving Todd a hand.
Todd grabbing his wrist and Burton doing so aswell, pulling him up and Todd climbing outside.
"Won't she notice?"
"Trust me I did this multiple times, just stay by my side and she can't tell you a thing" Burton spoke, seeming like an expert.
Burton and Todd got up,Todd dusting off his uniform and Burton helped Todd dust off his back.
After some time Burton and Todd found themselves in some upper part of the orphanages library,Burton reading, you guessed it,Oscar Wilde. Todd just looking through the books on the shelves trying to find something that would amuse him.
"I'm bored" Burton blurred out
"I thought you could never get bored of Oscar Wilde?"
"Well, yeah I can't but I've been reading this same Oscar Wilde book for ages now.I need a new one!" Burton spoke throwing the book at Todd in a joking matter but the book almost hitting Todd in the face if he hadn't used his arms to protect himself, slightly stumbling back and falling backwards, taking a bookshelf with him slightly.
"Holy shit!" Burton whisper-yelled.
"Hey no cursing!" A caretaker from downstairs spoke, the one in charge of the library.
Burton quickly walked up to Todd, not helping him just yet but looking at something..
"Help me goddammit..!" Todd cursed whisperingly as he held the side of his head which hit the floor.
Burton helped Todd up but his eyes still glued to the wall,"What is it?" Todd asked still slightly grunting as he held his head, finally turning his head to the mysterious wall.
A whole map of the exits and secret passage ways of the orphanage taped onto the wall which was hidden behind the bookshelf.
"Bloody hell??" Todd spoke his thoughts out loud
"Shh!" Burton shushed him covering his mouth,
Quick to slowly move it away and get a step closer
A smile creeping upon his face
"This is great,,this is amazing!Todd this is our way out!"
"Shh!" The caretaker lady of the library spoke from downstairs again.
Burton moved the bookshelf against the wall again, putting the knocked down books into bookshelf again, organizing it quickly as if nothing had occurred.
"Let's get out before they suspect anything"
Burton pulled Todd along by his sleeve again as always.
As they walked in the Hallway Burton talked nonstop of how excited he was about the plan and how Todd was some sort of 'hero',Burton speaking with his hands and his loud excited tone raising some awareness to them in the halls, well, not by the other kids which were used to Burtons off behavior but Ms.Applebury. Who had Teresa wrapped around her finger like always, her hand on her back leading her somewhere again, leaving her no choice.Todds blood boiled by the sight of her being treated like this. Her giving a quick look of 'help' but quickly bring escorted somewhere else.
"What is it?You fancy her?" Burton laughed as he broke Todd out of his thoughts.
"What Miss Applebury is doing,it's wrong." Todd spoke a slight stinch of Anger in his tone.
"Holy shit, you do fancy her?" Burton's joking tone dropped, some sort of ..sadness?In his face?
He readjusted his Posture.
"Well, hey,if you do there's nothing wrong with that, hah" He spoke akwardly "it's just that,,her?Crazy girl?"
"'Crazy girl?'"
"Well that's what the others call her"
"That's no excuse to call her that aswell."
"Sorry.." Burton murmured.
Todd sighed,
"Let's just go back to our room."
