The Boys in the Orphanage

Getting settled in.

"Here it is!" Ms.Applebury spoke as she dropped the heavy suitcases on the squeaky old floor of the dorm.
"Thank you Ms.Applebury" Todd spoke giving a quick thank you as he looks around the room.
The room had grey-ish old walls and the two beds looked centuries old,hold on a minute-
Two beds?He's going to share this room with someone,which he didn't mind but he thought about how his roommate may be.

"It's break,you should go out and meet the others" Ms.Applebury spoke,pulling Todd out of his thoughts. Todd hesitated to leave as his legs shook while he walked back through the big halls back to the big,green front yard. He hears the children yelling and cheering,some of them playing tag or hide and seek,boys of ages 5-17.
He walked to sit on one of the benches and when he did he found a book beside him.
"The picture of Dorian gray:Oscar Wilde"
He picked up the book and looked at the back cover out of pure curiosity.
"It's a bit rude to take something that isn't yours,"
He hears a voice speak,
As he looks beside him he sees a boy his age,black curly hair and pale skin,wearing the uniform of the orphanage.
"Oh-I'm sorry" Todd spoke as he quickly put the book back to where he had found it.
"You like Oscar Wilde?" The boy asked
"Not really,,curiousity got the best of me" Todd explained,not wanting to lie
"Ah ok,he really was a good writer,well before he died of an ear infection,how unfortunate" he shrugged.Todds first impression of the boy was that he was pretty odd.
"So,you're new here,you should come and hang out with me and my friends"
"Your friends?"
"Uh huh,their really nice trust me" he spoke not even letting Todd respond as he takes him by the hand and pulls him into a small forest in the orphanage that had some warning signs of poisoning.
"Guys this is Todd Todd this is guys"he introduced and the group of boys turned to look at him,quite..'judgementally' as they looked him up and down and didn't seem very amused.
"Burton you can't just try and replace Charlie like this,not this soon."
'Burton' sighed "But—we needed a new member we're the ones who know the truth about this place! And I think we should pass on our knowledge or more of us will end up dead."
Im sorry?Dead? Todd was confused,first his parents die in a tragic cat accident,he doesn't even get the time to comprehend everything and then he gets out into this orphanage with boys who talk about Oscar Wilde,knowledge and death?
"You haven't changed one bit Burton." One of the older boys speak as he gives all of them a sign to just walk away and they do.
