A/N

I'm backkkkk!!! Finals season kicked me in the bum and threw me in a ditch but its overrrrr. Now It's time to write to help me forget the trauma of my senior year TT. This chapter was requested by venuscosmic. Hope you enjoy!!!

"Welp, it's just you and me now Bagel," I said to the orange cat Marnie just dropped off at my door.

The little creature rubbed its head against the back of my legs before scurrying off into the mess of weeds that still covered my brand-new farm.

"Never mind" I muttered, picking up my watering can and shuffling to the barren field of parsnip seeds.

It was unfortunately time to get to work.

I had been in Pelican Town for less than two weeks and I struggled to find the energy to complete the sheer amount of work needed to maintain Gramps' farm everyday.

Years upon years without attention had left the gargantuan plot of land to slowly return to nature, and now it was up to me to undo all the damage.

Waking up at 6 am to tend to the farm was no easy task, after all, I used to wake up at 8 back when I worked at my corporate job in Zuzu City. But it was for the better, I wanted a new life away from the hustle and bustle. Away from the soul-sucking 9 to 5.

Away from him.

Breaking up with someone was a life-changing event. Especially when that someone was found in bed, his bare ass rutting into another woman.

I thought my ex-fiancé was going to propose, it was just one of those days where I woke up and I knew that something drastic was going to take place and change my life. I felt it in my bones when I woke up that morning, a nervous energy that restlessly sparked deep in my core.

In the end, I was right. What happened did change my life, just not in the way I expected.

I closed the door on my six-year relationship and never looked back, opting for a new life here in the Valley.

The sun was already high in the middle of sky, signaling afternoon time. I grunted as I swung my pickaxe into a massive boulder inconveniently laying in the middle of my farm, only to leave nothing but a white scratch amongst the grey stone.

I growled, picturing my ex's stupid face instead of the rock and swung once more, adding another white scratch.

A frustrated scream left my throat as I hit the stupid rock over and over, painting it with more white scratches.

Fuck my life.

I really needed to upgrade my pickaxe. Today, preferably.

Something fuzzy brushed against my legs as I shoved the pickaxe into my tiny backpack, and I couldn't help but let out a screech.

My arms and legs flailed like a spooked chicken as I must have flown about 6 feet in the air.

"Bagel, you scared me!" I laughed, looking around to make sure no one witnessed what just happened.

The orange cat only flicked its tail before flopping onto the floor on her back. I sunk down beside her, mindlessly rubbing her fluffy belly.

Exhaustion seeped into my bones, making my strokes against her fur sluggish.

"Good kitty," I whispered, smiling to myself.

Why was I so tired? It was only midday after all, and I still needed to visit the blacksmith whom I had yet to introduce myself to.
