Chapter twenty-one

I went back in the room and put on some satin pjs, dried my hair, and got into bed. Before I went to sleep though I got back up and went to the bathroom to find some bandages for my knuckles and I found something I don't think I was supposed to see.

I opened a cupboard and Next to the First aid kit there was a black bag and it was slightly open. I moved the side of the bag to see drugs and money, "what the fuck?" I decided to stay away from it since it wasn't mine.

I wrapped the bandages around my knuckles and went back to bed. I heard someone coming up the stairs, so I closed my eyes and rested my hands on the blanket. Someone walked in the room and sat on the end of the bed.

"Woah, what happened to your hands?" Alex picked up my hands and I winced when he picked them up. "Shit sorry." Then he put them down and walked out of the room, "wait." I said calling after him, 'what are you doing.' I thought.

"I thought you was sleeping." I was about to ask him about the drugs but I stopped myself. "Can you stay here?" He took his blazer off and loosened his tie and came behind me. "What happened to your knuckles." I shook my head and he was silent. Alex let his arm come around my stomach and I fell asleep with him holding me.

In the morning Alex was gone and I was glad. I don't know what had gotten in me for me letting him sleep next to me. I got up and stretched and my legs were asleep so I fell flat on my body, my face straight on the floor. "Ow."

I got up holding my head and I walked into the bathroom to see that the cupboard which had the drugs and the money in it, was empty. "Huh." This was so strange but I left it how it was, it wasn't my business. I got changed, did some skincare, and then went downstairs.

I was wearing a black juicy set that I had bought the other day with some slides. I sat down at the table and Alex wasn't there. 'He's probably busy.' I thought, Jamal was sitting eating his eggs and He spoke.

"So, how have you been?" I looked up at him and he made an awkward face, "I'm great. Have you heard from dad?" He looked at me like I was crazy, "you don't know?" I raised an eyebrow. "Don't know what?" He looked down at his plate then spoke.

"Our father is in prison." I was so confused, "what? How? courtesy of who?" He whispered something and I couldn't hear anything, "sorry what was that?" He scoffed like something was funny, "your boyfriend."

I picked up some toast, grabbed my phone and AirPods then walked out the front door to go on a walk. I felt the fresh air on my face and it felt like It was my first time leaving His house. I put my AirPods in and started to walk aimlessly in the sunshine. I quickly ate the toast and kept walking.

I was walking across a zebra crossing and a car came speeding out of nowhere, I ran to the other side of the road and when I turned around the car was gone. 'Jeez, some people are crazy.' I rolled my eyes.

I was on my phone and wasn't looking while I was walking and I bumped into someone. I looked up and it was him, Rizwan. "Zara?" I was speechless, I turned around and he put his hand around my waist and spun me around.

"Hello, Ma'am?" Wait did I just imagine that? Somehow I ended up on the floor, I look up to see a stranger with a concerned look on his face. "Sorry, I'm okay." I got up and brushed myself off, "I think I know you?"

I raised an eyebrow, "you do?" He nodded. "Maybe it's just a coincidence." He walked away and then turned back and smiled then continued walking. 'That was so weird.' I thought but I kept walking.

Somehow I ended up outside his house again, I looked inside to see Riz sitting on his sofa with his arm around the same girl from the last time I saw him, but I didn't want to pull myself back into waiting for him.

I took one last glance and then kept walking. I walked along the side of the beach and I saw a Forrest with a path. "Looks like we're going for a Forrest walk." I walked up to the path and it was made of small white pebbles.

As I walked on the path I looked around me to see oak trees that looked unreal, there was a small river along side the path and the water was shining in the sun. The farther I walked into the Forrest, the more I saw something that looked like a mirage. But it couldn't be, from where I was it looked like a dead end.

I kept walking, deeper and deeper in until I reached end. It was a waterfall and it was absolutely alluring and looked heavenly. The waterfall was real. I took my shoes off placed them next to me and swayed my toes in the cold, glistening, water. I looked up to see birds flying around the trees and I rolled my head back and rested it on my shoulders.

I heard rustling to my left of the Forrest but decided to ignore it. I put my head back up and watched as the water slowly poured out from the stones creating the waterfall. I heard the rustling again and wanted to ignore it but I looked around just in case.

I decided it was time to leave just in case I was being watched by one of Alex's minions. I dried off myself and put my shoes back on. I cautiously walked back the way I came when I heard more noise, I turned back to the waterfall to see nothing and no one, then something hit my head and I blacked out...
