Chapter twenty-two

I woke up in a car, my eyes were blurry, my head was fuzzy, I didn't feel okay. The car was parked up in a car park, I looked around to see if I recognised where I was and I couldn't see because it was so dark.

I tried to open the doors but of course they were locked, I lay back on the seats and started to kick the window and after a few hard kicks it shattered. I pulled the handle and the door opened. I stood up and I felt so dizzy.

I saw someone in the distance and they started calling my name. "Zara? Get back in the car." The person ran over to me and it was him. "Why the fuck do I keep imagining you?" I rolled my eyes and turned away, suddenly I felt two arms grab me and turn me around.

"What the fuck are you talking about?" I was so confused, "so I'm not imagining you?" He raised his eyebrow and rolled his eyes before hugging me so tightly I felt like I couldn't breathe. "Okay...okay I'm not...imagining you!" He let go and looked around, "we need to go, now." He walked over to the passengers seat and got in.

"You want me to drive?" He nodded, "Just for now, trust me." I got in the drivers seat and put the keys in. "Where am I going." He put his hand in my hand, "where ever you want besides home." I nodded and started the car.

I drove towards the exit and got out without any issues. We drove on the empty dark roads and I didn't know where to go so I was driving to a hotel so we could figure out what to do. I looked around and the round about was empty so I drove in to get to the third exit.

But before I could reach the exit a car came out of nowhere and I felt both cars collide? I opened my eyes and I was in a garden, it was beautiful. There were Roses planted everywhere. I saw a pathway and was curious so I walked up to the path.

I looked around me and after walking up I ended up at the beach. It was bright and sunny, the breeze was fresh and the ocean was flowing so peacefully. There was a woman sitting on the beach looking at the ocean. I walked over to her and sat down next to her.

I looked at her and it was... "mum?" She smiled at me, "my gorgeous Zara." She said still looking at the ocean. "I thought you died mum, how are you here? Is everything okay?" She nodded, "yes darling everything is okay, I'm fine." But something felt wrong, why wasn't she looking at me? I got up and stood in front of her to see a horrifying sight.

I froze, she had a gunshot wound through her heart and her face was crumbling, turning into ash, "Zara." She said trying to reach for me. I screamed in shock and I opened my eyes, I was in a hospital. "Was that just a dream?"

I looked around the room and Zaid was asleep on the seat beside the bed. "Zaid?" Somehow he woke up from me just saying his name? Security intuition or maybe he wasn't asleep at all...

"Zara, your awake. Are you feeling okay?" I nodded but I was confused, "where's Rizwan?" My leg was in a cast and it was so painful but I had to find out he was okay. "I'm here." I looked at the door and Rizwan was in crutches with a cast on his leg too, Zac standing next to him.

It was too soon for us both to have casts, "how long have we been here?" Rizwan looked so upset, "two and a half weeks." I had so many questions, "how are we okay, we were in an accident."

Rizwan looked at Zaid and the boys left the room, "the airbags protected from our stomach up besides some bruises but the car came so fast it almost shattered our legs but we were really lucky." I started to cry. "Why does this keep happening to us, I can't do this."

Rizwan came and sat next to me and just watched me as I cried. After a few seconds he held my hand and spoke words I never thought I would hear, "your brother had that car crash into us." I looked up in confusion, "what, no he didn't." I couldn't believe it, theres no way. It's just not possible.

"Zara, it was him." I just looked at him and started crying again. "I wish I never fucking met you." I said out of anger, "what?" He replied instantly, I could see the anger growing on his face, "my life was normal before I met you, no one was trying to kill me and I was okay."

He scoffed, "your not being serious right? You think getting beat by your father was living? You must've hit your head really hard, no? I'm trying my best to do everything, protect the girl I love, keep my father proud, keep the mafia in line, and you blame me?"

I just sat their silently, "you know what? your right, it is my fault, I fucked up everything, I got your dad put away. the man who was hurting you and it's my fault." "I didn't ask you to do that." I said mumbling, "what was that? Don't be a pussy, say it to my face."

He was really angry and I didn't want to piss him off more, "I said what was that?" He said shouting as he grabbed my arms and I just kept crying and he let go. "I'm sorry I didn't-"
I started to feel dizzy, and he could see I didn't want to speak to him, he got up and left.

Zaid came back in the room and sat back down, "are you hungry?" I nodded slowly resting my head on the pillow. "I'm guessing you don't want hospital food?" I smiled and he walked out of the room...
